Neuromantic Dreams  [Bandcamp Edits Vol. 4]

Palmiara, the side project of Poland-based DJ/producer Antoni Sierakowski, brings his first release under the alias to HOMAGE, turning in three colourful originals with Running Back honcho Gerd Janson stepping up for remix duties.

Throughout the EP, Palmiara delivers his kaleidoscopic vision of Balearic pastel tones, crafting feel-good house jams custom-built for the summer. Title cut ‘Mt. Paradiso’ kicks off the release with a barrage of marimbas, scratches, and cheeky synths tied together by a 4/4 rhythm and slap bass before ‘Jaszczurka Zwinka’ follows suit, with loose percussion and guitar licks swirling around soaring organs and twisted acid lines.

On the flip, ‘Surfin’’ marries rubbery bass and Latin-esque drums for a playful and off-kilter trip. Taking the B2 spot, Gerd Janson expands on Palmiara’s ‘Surfin’’ for his ‘Acid Tribe Balearic Full Moon Mix’, adding squelching low end and glistening pads to the mix for an additional dose of psychedelic house.

These were the instructions which had been passed down and ordered. According to him, the scientist, these rules would make him better. Each day he was to begin dancing in the morning and stop only once tired or exhausted, for these were the Doctor's orders, this the Doc's Track. Leaving the surgery he began to listen to the sweet sounds which reverberated loudly all around him, he placed a spring in his step and went forth about his day with a flurry and a shuffle. 

Kieran Apter is a Scottish producer who channels elements of rave and youth culture from his home town experiences through music. CB90 Dance Recordings is his new label, a homage to the mining community near his home and the rough and ready sounds of escapism. The first EP on the label features a remix from Man Power, it is the original however which caught our ears.

The second release on CWPT marks the label’s debut reissue, delving into the most propulsive corner of label-founder Palms Trax’s collection in order to deliver a rare and foundational record from Chicago house music history.

Recorded in 1987, Rog’e’s ‘Body Fidelity’ would have surely ticked all of Ron Hardy’s boxes and then jacked them right back out again. The alias of proto-house hero Reginald Rodgers collaborating with vocalist Tanya Stevens, ‘Body Fidelity’ is at once sensual, playful and commanding, the scent of freedom, sexuality and new musical horizons potent across each of the four distinct cuts.

The ‘Radio Mix’ offers the most upfront blend, a full-bodied mix that once filled the local Chicago airwaves with Stevens’ permissive and persuasive performance. Elsewhere, Rog’e breaks the track down to its core elements for alternate DJ sensibilities. His ‘Percussapella’ mix is a raw, rhythmic trip that erupts with acidic licks, whereas the ‘House Club’ mix is pure dancefloor pleasure sculpted in what would soon become the classic mold. Finally, analog freaks and the sleaze-adjacent will find the most allure in the instrumental ‘Bass-Ment’ mix.

COEO are back on Toy Tonics! After uninterrupted touring around the globe, followed by a short creative break the guys come back with an even stronger sound. With the new EP they go more underground again. Its addressed to the clubs and night owls out there, who turn night into day and won't stop dancing! 

The sound is based on classic house patterns and includes a lot of cool saxophones, big piano stabs & rhythmic piano solos. They even go tribal, use arpeggios and switch into breakbeat heaven. The four Originals are a great next step in the COEO evolution. The unique warm, catchy atmosphere of the tracks can create that special COEO euphoria which made them a lot of fans. From Moodymann to Disclosure, Mall Grab to Kenny Dope, the list is long. 

It’s fantastic to see how popular they became over the last couple of years. The last COEO vinyl sold over 2500 copies and some of their tracks have millions of Spotify plays. It’s DJ FOOD. Pure bliss!
