Let us introduce Kevin Murf, with his debut EP ‘All Inclusive’. The first glimpse into his world, and what a world it is. Five deep excursions, all contrasting each other, speaking about the endlessly destroying pursuit of happiness of humans. 

From the chopped-up breaks and surging bass bins of opening track ‘Unexpected Jazz Crush’, to the supreme sound design & perc work on ‘Last Minute’, a bonafide club tool.
Followed by ‘Bagombo’, a janky, tribal post-African number which glues it together with samples sweeping through taxing build-ups and blissful breakdowns. 
‘Small Hole of Large Absorption’, a near 5 minute atmospheric build-up of eerie field recordings and spacious samples, giving rest bite to the club weapons it followed, reminding the end of our naive world.
Lastly, ‘Unexpected Jazz Crush (Solastalgia)’, concludes the EP. Based on a neologism of distress caused by environmental change, it’s a stripped back version of the opener that gives a clean end to the journey.

Banoffee Pies Records, in its eighth year of operating, hit the 20th release milestone in their Original Series. Joining the roster, Cairo based producer Hassan Abou Alam steps up with a 4 track solo EP entitled “Fasla”. A decisive selection of attitude packed wormhole bass lines and dark basement jams.

The A side was produced in a special collaboration with local artist SHBL-LBSH who’s vocal works feature across “Kesibt” + “Fasla”. The B side delivers sharp cutting synth lines in “Mawkif” and breakneck low end rumbles in “Hanshoof”. After a series of works on the likes of Naive, Not For Profit and Rhythm Section, Hassan fittingly joins the Berlin based, Bristol born label with more boundless sounds that slice through the fabric of styles that BPR have fostered since inception. TOMA TOMA!!

My biggest inspiration for writing music are my own experiences. That is usually the catalyst that pushes me to start a new track. Countless late night chats at shows, silly moments in my daily life, or special moments that I wish I could frame and hang on my wall. When I open up Ableton, I pretend I’m writing the soundtrack for a specific slice of life.

My creative choices for this EP were guided by a few key things. I wanted to combine two worlds I thoroughly enjoy…bass music and hip hop. That’s always something that gets me hyped. Another guiding creative force, is this dragon I’ve been chasing since 2016 when I first heard Kursa’s track, Pick Em Up. This tune, with it’s pounding hip hop drums, invokes a darkness I seek in left field music and tried to tap into with this EP. This tune was a staple in my sets for years as it was both something that usually perked a dancer’s attention, while also doubling as a DJ tool to dip into bass music or footwork. With trends in dance music coming and going, I remain obsessed with this combination. Lastly, I tried to create m a s s I v e baselines that would make teenage me bass face while yelling “ooooh” and gripping onto the rail at the front of any rave. As this started to shape into a full project, I decided I was not gonna hold myself to rigid deadlines and take my time to craft this album out until I felt satisfied with the end result.

One time, Rau and I were at a music festival and I hung my shoes under one of the stages. They stayed there throughout the weekend, safe and undisturbed. The photo of my shoes hanging there makes us giggle and we turned it into a missing poster for this EP. Inspired by a story we made up of a raver that fell in love with footwork so passionately that they had to take their shoes off due to how hot their feet felt while dancing, never to be seen again (the shoes).

Et il y a une nuit qui restera gravée en moi, plus que toutes les autres.

C’était la fête de la musique, à Paris.
J’avais dansé pendant des heures sur les quais de Jussieu, un peu trop bu, un peu trop ri. Quand la foule s’est dissipée, je suis rentré seul.

Devant moi, il y avait une fille.
Je l’ai vue se retourner, méfiante, comme si elle avait peur que je la suive. J’ai levé les mains, presque en riant :
“Ne t’inquiète pas, je rentre aussi.”
Elle a soufflé, et je lui ai proposé de marcher ensemble.

On a fait dix mètres.
Je me suis arrêté pour allumer une clope. Et là, le soleil a commencé à se lever derrière les toits, colorant la Seine de rose et d’orange.
Je l’ai regardée. Elle m’a regardé.

Sans réfléchir, on s’est embrassés.
Pas un baiser léger, non. Un baiser fou, urgent, comme si c’était le dernier de notre vie. L’alcool aidait, bien sûr. Mais c’était plus que ça. Paris, l’été, l’aube… tout s’alignait.

On s’est embrassés jusqu’à ne plus avoir de souffle, jusqu’à en avoir mal aux lèvres.
Et pourtant, on n’est pas allés plus loin. On savait que si on dépassait cet instant, on le gâcherait.

Alors je lui ai embrassé la joue une dernière fois.
Je suis parti sans demander son prénom.
Elle est restée là, au bord du quai, silhouette perdue dans la lumière du matin.

Je ne la reverrai jamais.
Mais je sais qu’un morceau de moi est resté avec elle, dans ce Paris qui s’éveillait.

Hot on the heels of his releases with Futureboogie Records and Lyon's Hard Fist, London-based producer and DJ Kincaid shows off another side of his production abilities for Inside Out Records. Bringing forth his influences in UK Techno and flaunting intricate and experimental techniques, the three tracks across his Pipe Up EP match tight drum programming and hypnotic vocal samples, and will be followed up by a remix EP in August featuring the likes of Kris Baha, Benedikt Frey and Stevie R & Parisinos.
