V.A. Discovery will be the starting point in the release of compilations that will reveal the disco sound. The name of this series of compilations can be interpreted in different ways - and as the discovery of new names, acquaintance with a new sound, or in a simple way - "very disco".
We are glad that we are able to bring together a variety of producers who have already managed to win the hearts of thousands of listeners around the world, as well as rising stars with bright, but sometimes undeservedly unnoticed works.

We continue to adhere to the main goal of our label - to promote Belarusian musicians on the foreign stage and introduce listeners to artists whose sound inspires us. We hope you will like the third release! Aslamin

Introducing Hamed Farras! The singer, musician and performer from Abidjan.

Hamed has been at the center of Ivorian reggae for over thirty years, the sound made famous by Alpha Blondy in the eighties. In 1991 Hamed released his first album Deni: named after his breakthrough track, however two tracks on his debut album never received the attention they deserve…

Chef, C'est Pas Moi or "Chef, It wasn't me" features a 17 year old Hamed singing about his friend ‘Polo’ who got into trouble with the police. Slaman Djougou is about a cultural muslim who only prays during festivities. Both tracks feature Hamed’s characteristic singing and have an infectious groove that can match any of the famous Ivorian Reggae classics.

Together with composer and arranger Georges Kouakou, who worked with Alpha Blondy on many of his projects, and Hamed’s brothers, magic was created in downtown Abidjan (see picture above). As the album Deni was only released on very limited cassette and CD copies at the time, Chef C’est Pas Moi and Slaman Djougou never saw the light of day. Until now...

It is with great pleasure to release these songs with Hamed for the first time on vinyl after almost 30 years. The release is accompanied by a stellar DJ remix by one of our favorite producers: Lipelis!

PREMIERE : Hamed Farras - Chef C'est Pas Moi (Lipelis Remix)

Plaisir de France is well known for his remixes and collaborations with the best of the new French pop scene. He has worked with everyone from Regina Demina and Bertrand Belin to Arnold Turboust and his debut album from 2021 featured 27 collaborations that explored everything from club sounds to introspective home listening, dark grooves to happy house. Now the pleasure of the album is extended with 17 remixes, four of which are teased here.

First up is dark disco mainstay Damon Jee with a pure dance floor hit that is explosive and mechanical. His take on 'Serpent' is the sound of an infernal machine that goes into overdrive as it powers on in a rugged but compelling fashion.

Legendary innovator Tim Paris then steps up with his signature and singular electro-rock sound on his version of 'Cogne Mon Coeur.' It has a melancholic mood and bittersweet sense of nostalgia that slowly lifts you up as the power of the heady guitar chords and plaintive keys make their mark.

The brilliant Badknife remixes 'Sur La Piste' and brings a 2 am atmosphere where black leather, distorted drums and 80s sounds make for a menacing and uncompromising groove. It is an infernal sound that leads to both physical and mental abandon.

Finally, Polocorp is one half of Polo and Pan and he remixes 'Dans Toutes les Chansons d'Amour' with the club mind in. He layers in deep, hypnotic bass to make for an energetic cut that is ready to attack both body and mind.

This is a vibrant collection of characterful club sounds. The Tim Paris remix will be available 23rd September, the Polocorp remix on 7th October and the remaining two remixes from Badknife and Damon Jee will be released with the album on 21st October.

The night was young as they cruised through the backstreets of the downtown neighbourhood. This is where they felt safest and like they could be their utmost self. There were few prying eyes back here and those who dared to wander these alleyways were long beyond saving anyways.

They held hands together as they marched beneath the faint glow of streetlight, music blared from a small boombox perched upon the shoulder of her close friend. She smiled as she caught his eye and winked kindly.

Nothing could beat the echo of drums in the street, the feeling of his hand in hers, it was magical.

If only every night could be like this.

Kito Jempere has collaborated with Adam Evald and Antoha MC on a sleazy disco inspired cut reminiscent of the downtown New York era. This is then beautifully crafted into a further whirlwind by Lipelis, who relishes in the rise and fall of percussion and luxurious vocals.
