She took a deep breath in - it had been a while. The world all around her became fuzzy and warm, the trees looked greener than before and she wondered if they'd always been that way. It were as if everything had stopped for a brief second, all the noise and commotion from before had simply faded into blackness. No more troubles, no more racing thoughts, no more circular loops. 

Perhaps that's what it had needed to make it stop all along? One deep breath, a gasp at the air which surrounded her soul. It's funny how often what is most important can seem so invisible and redundant at the same time. She took another, a deep inhale. 

Her lungs were full now. 

KARLITA is set to release an album via Berlin based record label LAN - an imprint of which we are most fond and admire for its eclectic output. 

The album is titled 'From 5 To 7' and features a collection of tracks which draw upon influences from early Trip Hop, House music and dubbed out sounds you might associate with the likes of Basic Channel. It makes for perfect summertime listening, deep moving beats with character.

Was it a crime to daydream your life away? Thinking about the what ifs and the should haves; imagining yourself in scenarios so far removed from your reality... There was certainly no harm in it, idealism was an escape, it provided a respite from what was happening here on solid ground. If you preferred to live way up above the clouds, drunk on fantasies and wishful thoughts, what of it? Let yourself drift... at least just for a moment.

rRoxymore has proved herself a master of leftfield electronics. These sounds have come via releases for Ideophone, Timedance and Don't Be Afraid, the longtime partner who've housed several of her records since 2016. On her new EP, I Wanted More, a debut outing for Aus she continues her exploration of contrasting textures and atmospheres - intricate and tender synths combat crunchy, powerful drums to create a "perfect elixir for any morning dance floor".

Her mind was neither here nor there today; everything had become a big mush of half-finished tasks, immediate deadlines and last minute responsibilities. Trying to put them into some kind of decipherable order was a task in itself, one that would require an amount of focus and concentration that she couldn't muster up at this precise moment. For now, her thoughts would have to remain a tangled web, a scramble of words and memories all chucked in the blender and jumbled beyond recognition. 

Hot on the heels of a release from label boss Furious Frank, Adelaide-based label Mind Dance call on the skills of a veteran of the Australian electronic music scene, Andy Rantzen. Active since the early 90s, both solo and as part of the duo Itch-E and Scratch-E alongside Paul Mac, the Sydney hailing producer follows releases for the likes of 4-4-2 Music, Efficient Space and Ken Oath with Return To The Source, a seven-track album of recordings made between 1997 and 2020. Crafted using his hardware set up, the music is raw, stripped back, deep and percussive, touching on machine funk, electro and house.

“I’m a rapper!” says the kid to the cop. “Oh you’re a rapper? Oh, ok… Be cool, stay in school” the cop condescently replies.

Thanks to her unique approach to production, Lily takes us for a tour in her obscure, ethereal universe where hip hop’s supremacy is undisputed. Flirting with the club realm while fearlessly determined in her style, each of one of her core influences is essential to this parallel universe. Out there, pitched-down rap verses top obscure beats and rolling liquid jungle drums ; extended intros and outros riffle through the whole spectrum of human emotion. From anger to the puzzling humoristic dialogues she creates by toying with her own layered vocals or memphis rap samples, one cannot help but let himself dive into this ethereal consciousness outburst.

Underground hero Bill Converse returns to Dark Entries with Take Parts, perhaps his most muscular and floorfocused work to date. Converse has honed his analog craft since the early days of the Midwest rave scene, absorbing lessons from luminaries like Claude Young and Traxx. His skill as a producer has been established with releases on labels such as Dark Entries, Fit Sound, and Obsolete Futures, and his prowess as a DJ has been witnessed on floors the world over. On Take Parts, Converse peels away the layers of acidic gauze that have characterized much of his work, revealing his sharp grasp of dancefloor dynamics and DJ functionality. While the 808’s, 909’s, and 303’s are on full display, Converse does not indulge in retro-fetishism; he channels the future forward impulse of the originary rave ethos. Tracks like “Stroke” and “What You Have” pit seasick chords and analog squelch atop funky but unsettling loops. The flurry of 808 snares on “Measurement (Of What?)” nods towards both footwork and jungle, but feels ultimately planted in a world of Converse’s own. With the acid-electro masterpiece “Take Apart”, Converse implores us to both join him in this new world and reconfigure the one we’re living in now. The 6-tracks on Take Parts present a new focus for Converse, and will excite DJ’s and thrill dancers.

The ticking of the clock resounded around the room, its monotonous sound made it difficult for him to concentrate on his own thoughts. He shifted his attention to the other people in the room, and tried to scan their faces for feelings, thoughts and emotions. Nobody gave anything away; their expressions were unreadable and unaffected, as though they were all hiding something from the world. He wondered what their stories were, where they'd come from and where they were going, but he'd never find out the answers, speculation would have to serve his curiosity. 

A lover of hip hop, Lily Haz's releases are characterised by samples and off-kilter beats but with her own unique, personal touch. On singles and EPs for the likes of Night Noise, Stamp The Wax and her regular home Tofistock, she's demonstrated her knack for blurring the boundaries between genres, fusing elements of electro, dub, experimental, trip hop and ambient. For her long-awaited debut album she takes cues from nineties songs and films, playing with the art of sampling to fashion a collection of nine tracks that take us on a trip through hypnotic atmospheres, lo-fi beats and weirdo rap verses.

Leck Meine Bahn - they are back! These two space cadets bring back home some heavy radiated elements from outer space. After a two year odyssey, they return back to mother earth with an insane Live Set (Backslash Festival 2022) and a Battery Point EP full of blasting fusion energy. Their musical capsule comes packed with new textures, mixed up with an unholy but tasty reduction of Jungle and Trance substances melting with a fusion of Bass Music and industrial space chugs.
This cosmologic sound match is leading to a new co-dependency between gravity and bass. Their enigmatic grooves are ponderous yet playful and every alien ear which listened to this intergalactic call so far, could not escape this quirky dance atmosphere. Brainwaves music commanders aka LMB are Estebahn and Yolek and this composition is their second EP which results to an extension of new boundaries in our further rave solar system. Including two massive remixes by Jan Loup and Nuevo Prohibido to beam up every sort of flesh to the the next bass portal. Space alert!
