Two years on from their widely acclaimed third album This Bit of Earth, Greg Dowling and Shane Johnson are back on Go Deepwith their latest long player. ‘What I Mean By Beautiful’ touches on the previous collection’s themes of upheaval and dislocation, digging through the lost and found of modern life, always looking for light in dark places.  The album marks something of a return to the duo’s house music roots, with a four-to-the-floor foundation underpinning many of the eleven tracks. It exudes a warm, natural sound, where samples sit with modular synths, programmed drums with live loops, and quirky plugins with obscure outboard gear. 
 
Opening track, ‘I Float in the Clouds’, sets a dramatic tone with intricately interwoven guitar and keyboard lines, fragmented, spectral vocals, and deep, melodic bass. Tempos range widely throughout the record, from the loose, low-slung grooves of ‘So They Were Changed’ and ‘High Wire’, to the infectious, mid-paced title track, to the intense house workouts of ‘You Came Into My Life’ and ‘All In Everything’. Greg and Shane’s long established dub leanings are also in evidence, especially on the slow-mo churn of ‘Low Tide Dub’ and spacious atmospherics of ‘South Gate Step’. The album closes on an open and optimistic note with the soothing pads and deep electronic pulse of ‘Be Brave’, the result of a collaborative project with author Lisa McInerney and actor, Hillary Rose.

Underground house and disco maestro Mark E, makes a welcome return to Delusions following hot on the heels of last years’ Leaning Into The Light EP.  The revered producer has been steadily doing his thing for almost two decades now, racking up releases on Running Back, Golf Channel and Spectral Sound. His sound is a unique, sublime vision of US deep house which transcends the dance floor, and he proves his salt once again on the four new tracks that make up this stunning EP. 
Title track ‘Enchantment Under The Sea’ sets the mood with a minimal, low-slung drum machine groove laying the foundation for layers of Rhodes and synth chords conjuring up images of a sub-aquatic vision of depth and beauty.  Up next, is ‘Zone Tonight’, the epitome of a late-night cityscape driving track utilizing heavily saturated drums, subtle acid line, distant piano melody, and moody Detroit pads to draw you into its deep confines.  Flipping over to ‘Vertigo’ which treads a similar sonic path as Mark effortlessly fuses rich harmonies and entrancing melodies, inviting listeners to lose themselves in its depths.  Closing out this blissful journey we have Bodymap which drops the BPM a little more with simple understated drums, melancholic string line and pulsating bassline.
The Enchantment Under The Sea EP is a testament to Mark E's unparalleled prowess in crafting immersive, uncompromising, and emotive soundscapes for your aural pleasure.  He also created the original artwork for this release.

It was etched into the old stone, a framework for the perfect self. At least so that they had thought way back then, at the beginning. The sketches must have been there for thousands of years, all that was left of a people and a time very different to their own.

They were deep underground, it had taken several weeks to excavate this far and the strain and toll it had taken on their physical wellbeing was severe.

Now, as they looked at the magnificent old etchings and drawings. They realised that some sort of lifetime ago, there were people building a bodymap, the very core of what they would become in the now.

Mark E is perhaps one of the most underrated producers out there. For many years he has released a steady stream of music which has consistently made its way in to the bags and sets of a broad variety of DJ's. His versatility is unique, his music able to sit at home amidst a variety of contexts and settings.

This latest EP on Delusions of Grandeur is a brilliant showcase of his penchant for deep, progressive House music.

The karaoke connoisseur, Luigi impersonator, and all-round good guy, Manuel Darquart has stepped up before and he’s stepping up again, this time with ‘The Del Sol’ EP. Three down to business tracks with the perfect blend of Italo, Boogie and Deep House that will have you dreaming of a sunny coastline, Guayabera flapping in the breeze, and an ice-cold beer in your hand. Rounding off the package is Oakland CA native, Space Ghost who stamps his distinct style on the EP with a beautiful slice of Dream House. Voodoos and Taboos first appeared in 2019. A mysterious outfit, their melting pot sound immediately caught the ears of the faithful; acid cut with house, electro beats shot through with a punk D.I.Y. attitude. Their escapades didn’t miss us here at Bordello. Reversible Dreams collects four examples of this chameleon club style that Voodoos and Taboos have cultivated, the EP opening with the title piece. Cascading chords and whispered samples give way to rich bass strings as a playful piano melody transforms into squirming acid beams. Claps and neat notes introduce “Unconditional Love”, vocoder lyrics mingling with spoken word and juddering space TB303 squawk. The flip adopts a darker hue. Off-kilter bars and stern beats introduce “Animae”, alien electro melodies descend as a fizzing late night energy takes hold. BPMs drop for “Destino Lontano.” Warm basslines and Eastern scented synth-play weave their way through the piece, delicate strings and dawn sunshine leading to a close.

Madloch's Sound Avenue imprint presents the sixth installment of it's 'Correlation' series. Released in August of 2017, the inaugural edition featured a unique blend of untapped talent along with industry veterans, resulting in a cohesive fusion of artists from across the world. The label's borderless music policy was also well represented, showcasing a wide spectrum of electronica, from organic house to melodic house and deeper progressive grooves. In past editions, Sound Avenue has kept the track selection concise, with an average of just ten submissions making the final release. The continued growth of label affiliates 3rd Avenue, Crossfade Sounds, and Future Avenue have propelled the label's demo submissions exponentially across the last years. Add to that, a continually expanding music policy, and the 2024 edition of ‘Correlation' was finalized with eighteen beautiful selections.
