Sunny side up » is the first solo EP of JL., Paris based artist and Reshuffle music / Momo's Basement resident.  The EP embraces a solar energy spread in four refreshing tracks, between house and techno. It has this sunrise galvanizing vibe, that you can enjoy either when partying late or waking up at dawn to welcome a new day. A game of contrast and textures, definitely positive.

Uladzimir Patapenka is a name you might not know, but you may know that he previously worked under the LIPSKI alias. Now leaning into disco and working as Patapenka, he is a Minsk-based artist who steps out with his second solo EP and the opener 'Bisous' features a host of talented musicians adding their skills. It's a lush and rich sound with great instrumental grooves and catchy hooks. All three of the other cuts mix up different elements of disco, funk and soul to make for irresistibly feelgood and emotive listening. Another vital slab of wax from the Funkyjaws Music crew.

Brooklyn based Onysia brings together a diverse yet cohesive VA spanning in sound from upbeat minimal house to classic disco infused grooves and progressive keyboard driven compositions, all while staying true to the sound the label has carved out over the past few years. With an all-star lineup which includes Rick Wade, Mike Shannon, Jeremy Sylvester, Tommy Vicari Jnr and J Gabriel, there is something for everyone in this power packed 5 track release.

Things kick off on a high note with J Gabriel's "This Worked", a fun and driving daytime friendly affair with pounding 909 drums and fun jazzy motifs, which feels like an excited, optimistic preamble for what's to come. Jermey Sylvester's signature sound is up next with opening ceremony vibes as "Nostalgia" welcomes us into a world of soaring synthesizer strings, shuffling hi hats and beautiful layers of melody. Things reach a laid back yet epic peak with Rick Wade's classy disco infused stomper "Never Let Me go", a slow build that arrives at a super catchy and soulful organ riff that is sure to receive heartfelt reception on the dancefloor. A stripped back cool down is then offered up by Tommy Vicari Jnr with "Dreamstate" leading us into his world of soundscapes both classic and unusual in nature, his techniques and knack for wonderful production choices unmistakeable to anyone who is familiar with his large body of work. The VA comes to a close with a dynamic, keyboard driven number from none other than Mike Shannon featuring keys by the legendary Sarkis. The decades of experience and sophistication in club music come across powerfully in "Sarksalsa", a perfect concluding outro moment.

Mark E remains one of the most unsung and consistent producers out there – his records are favourites amongst many a DJ. Over the years he has released a plethora of music on the likes of Golf Channel, Running Back, Delusions of Grandeur and most prominently on his own MERC imprint to which he returns with this EP.

A classy record with emotive, deep grooves and lots of feeling.
