Mothball Record presents the first collaboration between Hysteric (Public Possession, Fuego International, Bordello A Parigi) and the prolific Shelter (from Uber, Edits du Mellah and International Feel), who are now working together as H&S. Both known for their edit skills and obscure taste, they now bring us dark balearic versions of two underground Italo killers. With strong new beat influences, and two versions of each track for added flexibility, this record can fit easily in different sets.

A weathered road sign signalled the way to the nearest village, it’s writing barely legible after years of neglect. The path, bordered by thick unkept grass, winded down to the foot of the hill. This was no destination, nobody had visited this place in decades. Outsiders weren’t welcome here. Clusters of small thatched houses dotted the landscape surrounding a towering church. Day-in-day-out the people of the village would visit this building to worship and pray, but they were guided by their own beliefs and values, by their own god. This was their sacred place, yet their idea of what is sacred was far from the conventions of society.

Timothy Clerkin exercises his remix skills once again, this time for Barcelona via Buenos Aires collective and label Playground Records. He steps up to rework Brasilian producer Marzian, who returns to the label for his second release following the introspective wave of his 2017 debut Bien Turro.

Joe Dickey, aka Body Copy, is a DJ/Producer who moved to Nashville in 2014 to continue his career as a touring and session bass player. A desire to find a creative outlet for exploring his love of music production and electronic dance music led Dickey to start the Body Copy project in 2017. He has since self-released a number of EPs, created his own label (Body Cuts), hosted several parties in Nashville, and performed internationally as a DJ. Body Cuts focuses on dynamic dance music that is rooted in the classic tradition of house and techno while remaining forward thinking and open to various styles of electronic dance music. ‘Spirit Dance’ sees Joe invite remixes from Yorkshire based producer and Phantasy, Hypercolour and Wolf Music artist James Welsh, in addition to Amsterdam’s Timothy Clerkin and Moscow’s Baltimore Chop.

‘Spirit Dance’ kicks things off with shooting acid stabs and muffled percussion floating around vocal samples from several old recordings of revival preachers before James Welsh continues with alleviating melodies, angelic pads harmonising with the inspiriting vocals throughout.

Timothy Clerkin’s remix of ‘Spirit Dance’ is a club-ready cut that lays focus on uplifting 303 synths spiralling with glistening leads and euphoric atmospheres before Baltimore Chop offers up an irresistible interpretation featuring reverberating bass grooves and laid-back rhythms in this nostalgic deep house track. ‘The Whys and Hows’ deliciously rounds off the EP with stabbing synths, infectious sweeps and rhythmic percussion keeping the energy flowing.

Body Copy ‘Spirit Dance’ drops on Body Cuts on 29th November 2019.

A sound clash of genre-agnostic colourful “Uncharted Territories” EP finally follows-up with additional remixes. Jacques Satre from Worst Records brings his signature sound flip that makes “How Do You Called It” into Saint-Etienne’s chillout scene anthem. Five Rituals modifies “Eating Knives” into an experimental bass sound with half-time beat clocking into chugging tempo and weird Lithuanian pop figure appearing between powerful room shaking basslines. Shkema makes the most psychedelic version of "Eating Knives" so far. Phun Thomas revision got a fat acid facelift and “Thrillingly Twisted Uncharted Territories” by DJ JM is club-ready amen break dj tool revision to original. Finally, Jaroska revisits his own “Eating Knives” one more time to bring into the 80's territory with fuzzed guitars and lyrics that tells the hard truth about most common lifestyle in our club culture.
