Rushing us headlong into a vorticist maelstrom of hard-edged drum stutter and polychromatic synth fragmentation, Sansibar sophomore long-player for Kalahari Oyster Cult - “Sans Musique” - tackles the very essence of post-trance-y, breaks-loaded UK blends with unabashed joy to wreak havoc on his path. Planet Euphorique continues to transcend boundaries and expectations with its lucky eighth release “Dream Portal”, a 4-track EP by Ronan.

The three tracks, plus a bonus remix from elusive, tech-wiz Reptant, were recorded over a two week period in Bogota, Colombia. Conjuring up vivid spectacles of a mysterious labyrinth; bodies unleashed and moving in unison. 

The title track, Dream Portal, unlocks the gateway via a dank, sway-worthy roller, equally menacing and eclipsing, paving the way for the A2 “Crystal Viewer" where propelling snares layer across delicate harmonic tension and spatial delay. Springing sub bass filling the low ends to complete the fusion of trance-licked breakbeat and ethereal techno. 

On the flip the situation continues to rise, Star Fissure delving into high-octane enlightened electro. Slick rolls and percussive fills make this a daring DJ’s dream. Kicks that feel like you’re being punched in the face, yet begging for more. Deep and driving, with delicate pads to take you into that elevated state. had an absolute blast making this remix so am very pleased to share the full version with u all. took a while to get the final version done (wanted it to be perfect for my bbz marlon + adam), but tbh it was fuckin easy. think i used almost every part of the original track cos it was already sick. add some sparkly synths and a unecessarily booming sub bass and youve got urself a remix pal. bing bang shtick it in and thank u good night

The tough breakbeats, slippery machine funk and fizzier end of the acid spectrum have always been a predominant driving force throughout most of Roy’s impressive output to date but on his new Fenix Break slab for Acid Waxa, Nottingham’s finest lays the mid-tempo gurner-churners on thick with a trowel and goes in deep on a wild, cement mixer bop.

Employing the use of an old Akai sampler avec floppy discs and the mega rare Cwejman S2 & Synton Fenix 19 synths, alongside his usual acidic apparatus - Roy delivers six heavily-processed 303 sizzlers, recorded straight to tape for added rawness and pressed on to vinyl for the very thirst time, following a sold out, limited edition cassette version, released in 2020.

Bolam - Wallbang

Ducking and diving, bobbing and weaving, with utmost haste they charged through the maze of branches and trees that blocked their way. Slowing occasionally to jump or hop over obstacles, the only standstill came with an unplanned slip or fall, quickly rectified with a rapid scramble back on to their feet. There was no end in sight, no finish line in memory. The only option was to keep running.

R.A.N.D. Muzik Recordings is a label we're constantly keeping tabs on. The Leipzig-based imprint is responsible for sharing some of the most refined electro, house, acid and breaks around and, considering its relatively short life span, has welcomed a diverse roster of artists for solo EPs and V/As, including Kassem Mosse, Rudolf C, Mick Pointer and Lou Karsh. Tom Jarmey releases his debut album for Lobster Theremin sub-label Distant Horizons (formally known as Distant Hawaii) with the beautifully serene ‘Amber Glass’ LP.

On Amber Glass, Jarmey draws on influences from ambient, house, breakbeat and techno, combining dusty drum sequences on top of cosmic synth patterns and classic, warm, tape-driven production. It’s a rare treat in the post-rave, home-listening dance spectrum and showcases a knack for brooding, laid-back grooves as well as a killer melody and rhythm. Chock full of breaks, bubbling electronica, deep diving tones and emotional textures, the album is a glimpse into the work of a rising producer, but one who nonetheless sounds comfortably in their prime.

Jarmey seamlessly blends breathtaking soundscapes, luscious vocals and soaring synth hooks on this debut long play following releases for 13th Hour, Shadow City and R.A.N.D. The LP sets the tone for future excursions on Lobster from the versatile Manchester-based producer.

Long-time musical collaborator and saxophonist, Ed Hodge, joins Jarmey for a clutch of tracks on this project, with Hodge performing sax on both ‘Bees In Meadow’ and ‘Deeper Pacific’. Amber Glass features the stunning artwork of London based designer CMDP.
