When I was doing the club Pure in Edinburgh in the 1990s, the other big night in the same venue was Tribal Funktion whose main (and fab) DJ was George T. We stayed in touch over the years. A few years ago I did a remix for him and now I'm delighted to be releasing some of his music, made along with Quinn who I also know from playing numerous gigs on the same bill as his wonderful act, Paranoid London. The stars truly aligned on this one. I'll let George tell you a bit more....


"Quinn & I first met in London around 97/98, raving both sides of the river, releasing the occasional banger and generally larking about. By the time his Different Gear Police bootleg with Gino Scaletti became a huge hit we lost touch, became parents, moved on. 

15 years later (it’s 2015) and realising that the guy in Paranoid London looked suspiciously like Quinn, we met up. First for beer and stories then for bass and echo. It wasn’t long before we started trying things out in the studio. Creating drones with guitar pedals, imaginary soundtracks with noisy old Bontempi organs. Things began to have a particular sonic shape, but we had other fish to fry. Quinn always had countless projects on and I was immersed in Greco-Roman’s Jeanga and George, so we were often busy, only meeting up in fits and starts every couple of months.

By 2019 though, without realising or intending anything in particular, we had quite a body of work. What to do? Knowing Keith from Pure in Edinburgh back in the day it almost seemed a no brainier. We love Optimo. Let’s send it to Keith.

We did, and then lockdown numero uno began. We’re now halfway through 2021 and very happy to finally share three pieces of music with you. An introduction if you will to the upside down, not quite this or that world of Quinn and I. We hope you love it too”.

Cocktail D'Amore know a thing or two about party starting wild cards, and thus far Lion's Drums has proven to be adept in that department with drops on Hivern Discs and his own self-titled label. He comes to the Cocktail party with two edits of Manos Tsangaris' powerful drum sermons - visceral percussive flurries from a man with enough rhythm to partake in the lauded Drums Off Chaos project. You should have a good idea from that what these two tracks are about - heavy, physical tracks for maximum dance induction, moments of pure abandon and the odd firework or two.

Tecwaa - Solar City

The rickety old station didn't see much thoroughfair, in fact barely a soul had been seen on the platforms for years. Many had moved on from the surrounding villages, it had become a ghostly place with little around to keep inhabitants there. People never passed through here, there were no visitors or holiday-makers, but every now and then a mysterious train would appear; where it was headed nobody knew - a train to nowhere without a destination.

Subfield boss, DJ and producer Mugwump is back with a brand new album. Pneuma follows his previous long players Unspell and Drape, and builds on the slow, psychedelic sounds that make up his sound world. This time he aims the release more at the dance floor, mixing leftfield house, krautrock, dubbed-out disco and electro across the LP's 10 tracks. Mugwump's sardonic and alert lyrics take centre stage on the original cuts and the handful of covers, one of UK band Swing Out Sister and another from influential rock band Television’s Tom Verlaine, as well as a collab' with Berlin chamber music duo Ceeys.

While we were finishing the last details of this release, we read with astonishment in the news that a group of scientists was able to take the first photograph of the black hole that exists in the heart of the milky way. This has raised many questions that we usually find in 
science fiction. What are they? Are they the portal to another dimension? Are there other dimensions beyond known space-time? The truth is, we don't know shit about this. But the first thing that came to mind, as we laughed through thick clouds of smoke and listened to the final mastering of 'Sticker Shock', was: where did these guys come from? This sound has to come from another dimension. There is no other explanation. We are more than psyched to introduce you to our reference number 044 'Sticker Shock' produced by Zillas On Acid. Thomas Roland and James Weissinger were born and raised in Philadelphia (or so they say) and in recent years have built a solid catalog with different appearances in Optimo, Les Disques de la Mort, Multi Cult and Dischi Autunno, among others. 
This EP has unique assembled layers and planes. The songs are at the same time fun, psychedelic and deep, mixing slow-motion death disco, dubbed-out drum machine music, and of course ACID to get party people on all planets pumped.
On the remix side, the great German Tolouse Low Trax offers us a robotic, kraut and freaky-funk reinterpretation of the song that gives the album its name. And last but not least, label boss Martin Noise join forces with talented young producer DELLA to create a groovy and percussive madness version of ‘Paper Party’.

PREMIERE : Zillas On Acid - Sticker Shock (Tolouse Low Trax Remix)

EP inspired by the mysterious and obscure culture of the Etruscan people.
All the tracks were conceived under the cloister's arches of the MANU - National Archaeological Museum of Umbria.

Born in 1989, Daniele Tomassini aka Feel Fly, dj, producer, sound composer (he recently completed the soundtrack for the movie I Santi by Giacomo Abbruzzese, awarded at the prestigious CineMed festival in Montpellier), co-founder of the Afro Templum party, already known for his previous works for labels such as Prins Thomas' Norwegian Internasjonal or the Ibizenca International Feel, lands on Simona Faraone's label, New Interplanetary Melodies, with his first EP, after having made his debut on the same label as remixer on the EP signed by Leo Young (NIM005).
The entire EP is inspired by the ancient and mysterious Etruscan culture, whose peoples inhabited the historical-geographical region of central Italy: all the tracks that compose it were in fact conceived under the cloister of MANU (National Archaeological Museum of Umbria) in Perugia.
The title track, Sacrificio (A1) opens the album with an ecstatic drum-break on which powerful subs stand out, catapulting you directly into the obscure rituals of the haruspices, intent on interpreting the signs of the divine, with the help of mysterious pads and shimmering synths like fires in the night.
Side A continues with Hypnopedia (A2), House music characterised by pressing rhythms and sharp rides that transport us into a dreamy dimension, a nostalgic, evocative dream of worlds that now belong only to the sphere of memory. While in Aisna (A3), which closes the first side, the atmosphere changes decidedly towards progressive house, a sound that has become topical again in recent years, after having raged in the second half of the 90s in those lands that were once called Etruria. And just as the Aisna was an early morning ritual held in a field or a sacred wood, this track has all the makings of a rave at the crack of dawn.
The B side starts on the same wavelength with which the first side closed, Afro Trance Amnesia (B1), in fact it maintains that feeling with the most sweaty dancefloors thanks to its epic breaks and vaguely Trancey arrangements that rest on dragging and obsessive percussions able to smash any kind of dancefloor. With Thi Rie (B2) the groove becomes decidedly more disco thanks to a rolling bass line interspersed with powerful toms and full of suspense thanks to the skilful use of enigmatic pads.
Étoile Romance (B3) is the title of the beautiful piece of Ambient that closes this first EP by Feel Fly on NIM, 6 minutes and more of dreamy arpeggios that fit perfectly into the groove of that Italian tradition of soundtracks and library music that has produced so many masterpieces.

As the second installment of the 12inch series on the German Eine Welt label, the two musicians Alexander Arpeggio and Nixxon who has previously worked and released music under the moniker “Ekstern”, tasted the wonderful Künefe cake for the first time on an autumn evening in Berlin. They got so excited about the sweet cheesy taste that they wrote a song about it. An up-tempo dance floor banger with a punchy bass line,  synthesizer melodies, and vocals describing the middle eastern flavors that had tickled their tongues. 
On the B-side you’ll find Op beni Künefe as the down-tempo track with Turkish inspired melodies on top of a steady drum machine beat. Istanbul artist Hilal Can interprets the concept with sensual vocals as the sweet syrup on top of the crunchy pastry. The whole process of making the record took its time, but now it’s ready to be served. And served hot!
