[MEDS X] This new release by 00970, Khatim Sulaiman, is a unique collaboration between a diverse array of artists from around the world. Unified by one imaginative piece, lending itself to a wider spectrum of visions of sound from four unique artists, each having created a variation that stays true to the original soul while infusing it with its own energy and spirit. Different souls originating from one acoustic body, different styles extending from the same sound identity.

As the city woke from its slumber, the streets filled with sound; both beautiful and chaotic. Snippets of voices shouting in the distance blended with the harsh frequencies of far-off car alarms and beeping horns; it was a sonic snapshot of the hustle and bustle that characterised this city. For some, it brought comfort and safety, for others it drove them away in search of peace and quiet.

Cairo's RAKETE sprung into life last year with a VA called 'Cairo Quest' which shone a light on some of the artists operating in the Egyptian capital's electronic underground. An EP from fellow Cairo native Hassan Abou Alam followed and now they're releasing their third instalment, a six-tracker from newcomer Postdrone, that comes complete with remixes from Abou Alam on the flip. Titled ‘Ready For Nothing’, the introspective, sparse compositions draw from the "inherent dissonant noise of Cairene existence, and the suppression of left-field works in the face of a deeply commercialized musical landscape."

Emerged from the debris of Buenos Aires and Santiago de Chile, Tecnologías Elementales is a platform conceived to produce cognitive frequencies towards the intervention of the global nervous system.  
MUTUALISMOS 01 is the first release of a series that will feature split EPs by two artists from different parts of the world. 
In this case, SIDE A includes two tracks by argentinean techno artist Qik. The core elements of these tracks originated in a live performance during the quarantine of 2020, to be later reworked in the studio. The two laboratory-synthesized entities, however, maintain the fluidity of their original, a character that manifests in their rhythmic and synth progression and down-tempo electronic atmosphere. Mississippi River is inspired by a documentary about New Orleans families who lost their homes during the 2005 flood. The second track is based on typical afro-rhythms from the Río de la Plata in Argentina. 
SIDE B delivers three intimate tracks by chilean DJ and producer Kamila Govorčin that are the result of an exercise in self-knowledge through music production after a period of questioning and discomfort. In her journey to find inner truth, these playful explorations with rhythmic patterns, ghostly melodies and digitally-processed voices allowed Kamila to rewind her mind in order to remember, reset, truly forget and carry on.

AWK004 - Afriki by Azemad // Snippets

A fresh breeze cut through the balmy heat, providing a moment's respite from the blazing hot sun. It shone down on the coastline, which was covered with clusters of small white houses that stretched up the hillside; each one looking like a bright diamond studded across the sprawling landscape. There was so much to take in, from the bright blue sea which invited you in and the colourful streets to the sumptuous smells and the friendly faces greeting you at every turn...

The music that makes up Soreab's debut album, Muğla's Chronicles, first began in 2016. The first ideas came to be whilst the Baroque Sunburst Records co-founder was living in Bodrum in the Muğla Province of Turkey for six months. Taking a diaristic form, he traced a journey of discovery, new experiences and learning new things, imagined as if he were a child visiting the country for the very first time.

In lockdown he revisited the project with a fresh set of contemporary influences but retained those traditional influences that had been there at the outset. Primarily this is a Turkish lute, which plays a central role in the LP and features in every track, though Soreab manages to manipulate it in ways that work with the sounds he loves today, from UK techno, dub, leftfield bass and IDM.
