YokoO has been slowly gaining a well deserved reputation for quality the past few years. Already playing our events and an integral part of our family he first featured one of his productions on last Summer's sampler. Finally his own solo release sees the beautiful light of day. Each track perfectly crafts an atmosphere. Each a story unto itself. YokoO enlists friend and multi talented artist Retza to add an extra layer of emotion to his already complex musical compositions. The result? A three track EP to not only send you soaring in to space at certain moments but also, at he same, time have you explore organic musical jungles, oceans and deserts of our world and others yet discovered. No one is really sure what that means exactly so why not let the music describe itself.

The monster from the depths of the burly mountain would come to life at night, only to cast his fowl presence upon those who witnessed him. He was a true creature of darkness, weighted down by mould, sludge, hatred and slime. Here come Greenslade, as he prepares for another evening of havoc, chaos and despair. He was the monster, deep from the lair. 

MM Discos have been very busy since their formation in 2015 having released music from Marvin & Guy, Akirahawks and Enzino. Now they have announced the release of a forthcoming EP from Sankt Göran, which also features an exciting remix from Barcelona based JMII.

Material and Definition: Music producers Piemont make a timely return to UK imprint Toolroom this month making an appearance on club focused sub-label Toolroom Trax for the brand new venture. The boys provide a solid contribution to ‘Trax Vol.1′, which is a freshly created concept album series launched via the imprint that showcases the spectrum of sound that the label is now renowned for. The ethos of the label is simply straight up club tracks, made by DJ’s for DJ’s on the underground Tech House and Techno circuit.  Well, you’re in for a right treat today as we showcase an exclusive track from the release in the form of  ‘Wake Up’ – an irresistible cut with awesome energy and a lush groove. Lead cut 'At The Rave' is a slow-building yet hard hitting anthemic production overflowing with that old school sense of madness and eurphoria in the break-down. E. Myers - Hate (Version) (STW Premiere)

So here we are with Riotvan's second installment of the "Familiar Faces", showcasing what's happening with the label these days (a lot), making label-residents shake hands and welcome affiliated folks to the syndicate. Although this is a 'various artists'-format, the here gathered stylistic approaches and track-turned mindsets make a strikingly coherent body of work. Just another evidence of how Riotvan has evolved into a renowned think tank of likeminded artists and indicator of state of the art sonic bliss. 

Kicking off we find Perel immersing in yet another synth-driven stream, seeking continuation to her latest, widely praised full length-cycle, but this time bypassing Venus or rather "Super Venus" while floating off to other otherworldly dimensions.

Next in line are Black Spuma, i.e. Lauer and Fabrizio Mammarella, demonstrating via "Drumbaeck" what a match in Neo-Disco-heaven they are. A highly energetic beat, laying the grounding for a cheerful synth-hook and harmonies you won't get out of your head anytime soon.

Same goes for "Tropical Redux", the follow up by none other than Panthera Krause. A particularly elated affair, carried out by a funked up bassline and a catchy string-theme, sticking its neck out in Disco-realms, while maintaining a primetime-adjusted groove.

At this point it's about time for a premiere. Say hi to New Hook, an all-female power-force with their debut release. "FXART" comes as a well-versed exercise in reviving frigid 80ies leanings with a contemporary urgency and attitude. And that's just a glimpse on what's to come from Linda, Ilka and Juliane.

Chinaski, definitely no stranger to the Riotvan family, is taking on the 80ies vibe and hands in "Zeichen der Zeit", an unhasting ride through various galaxies, combining nostalgic synth-aesthetics with spaced out futurism.

Closing things off, it's label-mainstay Jennifer Touch cutting deep with "Bleed", an almost existentially emotive composition, exploring spiritual abysses lyrically, re-modelling emotional chaos within the overtones of the arrangement and even trimming things down to physical functionality within the track's progression.

Celestial electronics are always at the heart of James Welsh’s music, via a number releases for labels such as Erol Alkan’s Phantasy Sound, Wolf Music and Hypercolour.  “Hammers” is Welsh’s second release for Futureboogie (following 2013’s “Craven” EP), and finds the UK based producer on particular fine form.

With its airy pads and shrouded ambience, “Hammers” drives a 303 bass line right through its centre, perfectly balancing the tracks emotive and darker sides.

Hodge (Livity Sound/Hemlock) comes on board with an industrial sized remix, carving out some heavyweight tribal drums and additional percussion and letting the acid do its tweakable thing.

“Denergy” meanwhile channels some electro tinged bassline moves over super funky, tight drums, a flourishing acid line, and laced with the futurism and sound aesthetics that’s keeping James Welsh at the top of his game.

Further explorations into leftfield electronic rhythms are chartered on Cin Cin’s seventeenth release.  Bringing together two unique and talented artists on one release, Vanessa Worm and Sau Poler serve up four delectable cuts.

Vanessa Worm, debuts on Cin Cin, with one release for Optimo Music already behind her (and a full length album coming soon on Optimo).  ‘SLASH’ is built upon a drum machine heavy disco beat and a rampage of acid tones, battered vocal hits and a seriously funky groove.  Spacey punk funk business!  ‘444 – 000’ is also delivered in spirited fashion, a riotous blend of electro pop and heavy tech-funk is offered up, with Worm in playful mode, mashing vocals and samples together to marvelous effect.  

Sau Poler has been on our radar for sometime, following a string of infectious releases for Atomnation and Modern Obscure Music.  Hazy, tropical auras are deployed on ‘Primitiu’, as a raw 303 bassline cuts through a vivid sonic wilderness.  ‘Lunatic Decay’ also plunders a dense and equatorial sound, with a hypnotizing percussive rhythm holding steady a cloud of experimental sound design and studio inventiveness.

@Nocta-Numerica is an independent music label with an eclectic taste spanning Electro, Disco, Italo and Acid Music. Their latest release sees them turn to Electro with 'Somnus Ambulo' , a 4-Track EP by the mysterious Russian producer PQ17 (@PlatoonQuick). The EP will be out on October 8th and available in digital and vinyl on all the usual platforms ! Limited edition of 300.

Our pick of the release, was the title trac which is filled with breaks, heavy bass and an infectious rhythm.

DSB’s first release consists of a diskomiks by Prins Thomas and two house tracks by Perdu. The Diskomiks has already reached a legendary status in Belgium since it’s free promotional download for Petrol’s summer club in 2013. Getting regular plays by more than a handful of respected DJ’s in the Belgian scene. Even Norse top-producer and DJ, Todd Terje, gave it a spin while closing the Castello at Pukkelpop 2018. It is a track that gives you the summer jitters, and makes you reminisce about those lovely days at the beach.

The B side is completed by promising Amsterdam producer Perdu. First track ‘Tribal Voices’ is a South African bubblegum edit from 1985 track ‘Nhamba Dance’ by ‘The Winners’. The vocals are re-recorded by original producer Selwyn Shandell and authentic African singers. The track has very strong percussive elements, a groovy bassline that makes you want to dance and funky synth lines to complete the whole thing. Second track ‘Yesterday’s Tomorrow’ is one to be played in the clubs. The track starts with a stomping beat and gradually opens up to an oasis of sounds. While adding layer after layer you get absorbed in the atmosphere like you’re in the jungle.
