Belgian iconic label https://soundcloud.com/usaimportmusic gets relaunch. First release: REISSUE by HARDCORE producer Liza N’ Eliaz.

Nicknamed “The Queen of Terror”, Liza N’ Eliaz was a well respected DJ, producer and label owner born in Ostend in 1958 and sadly passed away in Antwerp in 2001.

Growing up in a family of musicians, she studied classical music and learned to play the piano four hands with her grandfather, a conductor at the local municipal orchestra. Later she discovered the synthesizer and cassette recorder and joined new wave and industrial bands in the recording studio and on tour. During a concert in France in 1985 she met Yvette Neliaz, who became her companion, muse and partner and whose surname inspired her pseudonym. Liza was added as a reference to the byname given to transsexuals in Flanders.

In Amsterdam the couple became enthralled with the burgeoning acid house, new beat and techno scene centered around the club Roxy. Soon Liza N’ Eliaz started to make a name for herself, among others in the Parisian underground scene and as a regular guest at French Radio FG. As a DJ she mastered an incredible technique simultaneously mixing on three or four turntables. As a music producer she had an impeccable ear for sound, pushing up the pace to staggering heights and as a result taking part in changing the rules of electronic dance music in a new and booming global scene in the mid nineties: hardcore and speedcore.

Liza N’ Eliaz was a prolific producer working solo and with artists such as DJ Dano, Laurent Hô and The Prophet, releasing on labels such as Atom, Mokum and Bonzai. In 1997 she founded her own label in collaboration with USA Import Records dubbed Provision Records.

USA Import Records is proud to present the reissue of Initial Gain, the EP previously released on its sublabel Atom Records in 1992, the second in the Molecules of Music series. Adding two new interpretations by Toulouse Low Trax to three original tracks, a nothing else but logical connection is set between Liza N’ Eliaz’ early work and today’s genre bending electronic music scene.

For the record: Liza N’ Eliaz didn’t like her nickname “the queen of terror”. She didn’t intend on terrorizing anyone, commented Yvette Neliaz after her unfortunate passing away.

Berlin artist Katiusha kicks off her new label GRACE with ‘The Sellout’.

Over two tracks, the EP imagines sultry, meandering spaces for dancers to disappear in.

9-minute opener ‘The Sellout’ laces distorted bass pressure with slithering textures, vocals and shadowy synths. On the flip, ‘A Shark Called Nancy’ shakes up the oceanic depths with a more steamy groove and fidgety breaks.

GRACE is built for those moments where dancefloors melt into hazier spaces. After this first release, the label will pass the mic to other producers who wanna take you there!

Black Merlin - Sub Conscious

Darting to the left down an alleyway, her heart skipped a beat as an uneven paving stone almost tripped her, but she managed to maintain her balance and regain focus as she headed for the busy street ahead. She was being chased but there was no danger, she knew exactly what she was doing. Her feet barely touched the ground as she weaved in between the drunk partygoers taking up the pavement. Snippets of nonsense conversations, indistinct shouts from across the street, and harsh artificial light from cars and shop fronts blurred into one disorienting multi-sensory experience, intensifying her escape tenfold.

Next up on Berlin-based label Malka Tuti is a remix package of Hamburg duo Shari Vari. As an appendix to their debut LP 'NOW', friends of the label have reinterpreted a selection of songs from the release, reconditioning them for the dance floor. Black Merlin’s version of ‘Dance Alone’ amplifies its dark atmosphere, introducing a repetitive tumbling bass line alongside otherworldly synth sounds and chopped and twisted vocal snippets.

This album by Deux Control is a smooth genre crossover paradise of 808s, Yamaha keyboards and deep mesmerizing vocals side by side with more hardcore synth elements found in bands like DAF or Nitzer Ebb.

Deux control’s sound is a mix your favourite soundtracks of electronic music with a large portion of body synth. It is sexy, cool, and a bit frightening. The music on “Sex Miami” is familiar and goes out to all listeners of all ages but especially to those in the French/Italian disco fandom out there. This is the kind of music an eighties international business traveller would listen when kicking back and clubbing after landing a fat new contract.

Deux control is the act that got bumped from the Miami Vice soundtrack last minute because being a bit to edgy for mainstream USA. They are the group that Gorigio Moroder tried to copy when he wanted to update his sound. Deux Control are the new rulers of psychedelic electric body-disco!
