I’m a Cliché’s first release of 2016 comes from label boss Cosmo Vitelli. After a five-year hiatus during which he was kept busy by his band Bot’Ox and relocating from Paris to Berlin, this is the very first release to come out of his new studio located in Berlin’s Marzahn district.

A CRUEL STORY
This emotional uptempo track driven by heartfelt synth work explores the territory of dancefloor melancholia. Influences from genres that end in « -wave » but also from the spirit of sentimental electro are obvious and they are creatively used by Cosmo Vitelli for particularly catchy and elegant dance-inducing results.

CHIENS DE L’ENFER
There’s something ominous in this track with a definite rock feeling which is structured around brooding percussion, hypnotic melodies, sinister synths and an entrancing bass line. Darkness prevails and this is the perfect track to take the dancefloor on a date with the hounds of hell.

KETAMINE KARAOKE
Cosmo Vitelli further explores and reinterprets the melancholic and melodic potential of older genres on this catchy tune that sounds like a lost recording from a forgotten yet influential band that used a bass guitar, gently modulating analog synths and vintage drum machines with a taste for dissociatives on the original sound track of a '70s French film.

A CRUEL STORY (I:CUBE REMIX)
One of our favorite producers in Paris delivers a remix which enhances the hypnotic elements of the original track which he turns into tune tense, dark but quite debonair where low end groove is complemented by tribal percussion. Clearlly, this is a track waiting to be unleashed on the dancefloor.

Fx Mchn is an up and coming producer from London whose tracks are often played by Cosmo Vitelli. This remix focuses on the funkier side of Cruel Story. Instantly danceable, elegantly layered and with added melodic touches, this track conjures element of the Detroit sound and will work wonders on even the most demanding of dancefloors.

Back with his third 12" delivery and first for David Vunk's ever consistent @moustache-records, French producer @eliott-litrowski touches off the Italo frenzy head on; colliding endless moog tides, funky bass moves and epic strings for a magnetic journey across the stars.

The temple was old and weathered, its towering stone walls crumbling with the passage of time. Thick green ivy hung over the roof and clung to the outer walls of the historic structure. High upon the hill it sat away from prying eyes, a mysterious space full of dark secrets. It had once been a place where people came to worship and to celebrate but now it stood empty and abandoned, no longer a space for living beings to frequent. 

Brussels-based record store and distributor Crevette Records are set to release the third instalment on their label arm. They welcome Weird Dust to the family with Tribes 1.1, six tracks that showcase the Belgian producer’s love for hardware and futuristic sounds.

Mix #83 – Kidding Kurrys

It was darkness when they rose from their slumber, barely a sliver of sunshine poking its head above the horizon. They fumbled around as they made their way out the door and on to the dimly lit street. It wasn't a long journey to the foot of the mountain but beyond that the walk ahead would be long and testing. You had to put a little work in to reap the rewards and hey knew that the beautiful sights that awaited them at the top would make it all worthwhile...

Over the last four years, since his first release on Maciek Sienkiewicz's FASRAT imprint, Das Komplex has become one of the most respected producers in his home country of Poland. He's since gone on to put out music on labels like Love On The Rocks and People Must Jam, continuing to flaunt his own signature brand of hazy sample-based house. His next release, Reverse Hallucination, finds a home on Artur8, Anton Klint & Edvin E's freshly founded King Of Kong imprint, which launched last year, and sees him bring four soul-infused tracks peppered with dreamy synths, percussive grooves and deep bass riffs.
