1. Tarotplane – Shatner's Bassoon
Shatner's Bassoon is the first track on the just released Horizontology album by Tarotplane. You fly through a soft universe, eager to hear what comes next. The cover tempts you to dive in.

2. Helado Negro – Pais Nublado
When i saw Helado Negro live i was blown away. His appearance combined with his bilingual poetry about personal and political issues immediately captivated me. His voice feels as warm as the Florida sun playfully flooding the room. The big sticker on my fridge reminds me every time 'this is how you smile'.

3. Pierre Barouh – Le Pollen (only intro)
A conversation in a bar, cafe or bistro. Glasses clinking, a phone is ringing, probably people are smoking at the tables, pretty accents.

4. Silver Leaf – Hey! 
Sweet voice calls hey! and laughs. Here it comes. But it doesn't matter if nothing else comes. Let's go.

5. Serge Gainsbourg – Strip-Tease Instrumental
I left out Juliette Gréco's voice, I hope you don't mind. So the melody could also come from a carnival, a merry-go-round, Paris in the 60s.

6. Il Quadro Di Troisi – Non Ricordi
What could be better than two artists you love making an album together? I follow both Eva Geist & Donato Dozzy musically. This project is totally successful, a beautiful pop album.

7. Jean-Pierre Decerf – Surrounding Seas
Jean Pierre Decerf recorded the Tracks for Space Oddities in the mid 70s. Surrounding Seas sounds just as the title promises. A dreamy flight around the seas.

8. Ssiege – Regina
What an album! Luckily it's out on vinyl now, I don't buy tapes anymore. Regina is so good, the sounds, the mood, a perfect track. Ssiege is definitely one of my favourite artists at the moment.

9. Roy & The Devil's Motorcycle – We Don't Know
The Roy's are a swiss rock band, consisting of 3 brothers with guitars and a drummer. One of them usually stands with his back to the audience. I have heard them live many times. The song 'We don't know' is the B2 on a 7" with a slightly larger hole than necessary. I love this song it sounds so drunk. The larger hole makes it wobble, which sounds even more drunk.

10. Julianna Barwick – Flowers
Barwick's meditative blend of electronica, ambient and pop has an effective healing effect. 'Healing is a Miracle' came out last summer. The basslines, the echoing pads, together with her voice are amazing. The repetitive nature of this song is like a huge thunderstorm approaching or a storm passing by. The album feels so real, accompanied by a magnificent artwork.

11. Squid – Broadcaster
“Lyrically the track was inspired by the visual artist Naim June Paik & his TV Garden installation,” the band’s drummer/vocalist Ollie Judge said “I thought it blurred the lines between a dystopian and utopian vision. I imagined what it must be like living synonymously amongst nature & technology in the most literal way I could imagine, with TVs towering over me amongst forests.” Let's take this psychedelic voyage.

12. Black Marble – Johnny And Mary
A song born in 1980 and still so fresh 40 years later. A successful homage, it moves you to dance (also good for driving, I tried it).

13. Finis Africae – El Abrazo De La Selva
This piece speaks a beautiful peace between modern electric instruments and traditional acoustic instruments from many cultures. Fortunately, you can travel with music.

14. Neo Museum – Area
I discovered the song on a compilation of 'Light in the Attic'. It's sung in such a wonderfully weird way.

15. Burnto Bertolucci – Bake Me Dome Tonight
This track is a remake of Schneider TM 'The Light 3000', in turn based on The Smiths classic.

16. The Schmutz Sisters – La Folle
Finally, one of the best songs i know. The Schmutz Sisters was a Swiss project founded for a performance. Recently reissued on Optimo's So Low label. Play it loud & give the bolero.

Princess P has become an integral part of the underground music community in Switzerland having worked hard behind the scenes over many years. As an artist she has evolved, developing her knowledge and passion for leftfield sounds which work wonders on the dancefloor.

Whilst rooted in house music, over the years her sound has progressed, drawing upon wider elements of influence. She’s worked as a resident dj, ran clubs and cut her teeth behind the counter at Plattfon in Basel.

This summer past she graced the stage at our inaugural edition of Watching Trees and left us all incredibly impressed with her broad selections and seamless blends.

We invited her to showcase what she’s all about on a new mixtape which blurs the lines between genres and takes us on a wild ride.

Princess P: The 'Shine A Light On' Mix

Objekt launches his new label, Kapsela, with a 10-year anniversary reissue of his lauded production ‘Ganzfeld’. An ambitious, evocative electro/IDM epic with cavernous drums and a riotously funky bass solo, Ganzfeld was initially released in 2014 on Leisure System as the B-side of Hypnagogia, a split EP with Detroit electro pioneers Dopplereffekt. It quickly garnered critical acclaim (including Track Of The Year by Resident Advisor) and amassed a cult following despite clocking in at 147bpm, a relatively unwieldy tempo for most DJs at the time. Given the seismic shifts in tempo and genre that have taken place in the 10 years since and the emergence of a new generation of producers with whom Ganzfeld’s influence has resonated, 2024 seemed like the perfect moment for a re-release.

Commissioning remixes for the first time, Objekt enlists Djrum, who delivers a jaw-dropping 10-minute rendition which weaves through multiple genres and tempos with the cinematic flair of a short film score. Milan’s Piezo contributes a taut, prickly interpretation that builds tension at 80bpm before exploding into a cathartic double-time closer. Finally, US ambient artist Ulla fully deconstructs the original into a serene, undulating lullaby.

Objekt - Ganzfeld (Djrum Remix)

No Moon is back with a dual series of records, showcasing the two faces of his musical personality. For the second installment he unveils the Mean Series, focusing on tougher, club-ready cuts

The 4-track EP explores new territory in the 140bpm space, drawing influence from dark-garage and dubstep as well as the breaks and electro that No Moon fans will be familiar with.

‘Bass Finger Villain’ is the latest release from @g-twentythree on @farrell-devils-work, a powerful broken electro-techno track with hip hop imaginations designed for the dancefloor. 

@hodgebristol remixes the track, capturing the essence of bassy tech house with a little UKG tip.

Ransom Note Records are delighted to announce Blueprints Revisited, six remixes of the breakthrough debut mini-album from Ammonite, a.k.a. songwriter-producer Amy Spencer.

We have invited an array of the best producers the underground has to offer to perform remix duties. Our first offering is from Seoul-based duo, Salamanda remixing When You Don’t. The up and coming self-described "leftfield ambient duo", have taken elements from the heavenly, delicate original track and reworked them into a retro, synth heavy, slow-mo workout. The sparse, driving drum break reveals Amy’s angelic vocal layers and Salamanda have added their own distinctive flare, creating a spectacularly bold mix.

PREMIERE: Long Island Sound - Terra Nova [all my thoughts]

@Wordcolour returns to Houndstooth with ‘Ratios III’, the third instalment of their ‘Ratios’ series. Released in 2023, Ratios I and II kick-started a series of two-track EPs of adventurous, experimental club music. Ratios III continues this trend whilst also being Wordcolour’s most peak-time offering to date.

‘Crush’ (04th Sept) is a 130bpm cut which features an infectious vocal set against a pounding polyrhythmic kick. The sub-heavy groove builds in energy before turning on its head half-way through, rocketing upwards through a polyrhythmic shift into a 170ish 4/4 beatdown with a vicious bassline.

‘Rapture’ (Sept 13th) sees Wordcolour turn their attention to psychedelic loopy techno. Diving deeper into microtonality, Wordcolour reimagines the music and sound design written for Andrea Khora’s 2024 short film of the same name.

It takes good taste to make good things. Getting serious with the music side of things in the ‘90s when she went through her brother’s house collection and swiftly started her own DJ team. In 2008 Princess P (@princesspdj) was invited to the Red Bull Music Academy (@redbullmusicacademy) in Barcelona which helped her to have a much broader insight into the music business.
It's in the nature of things, that working in a recordshop, trains the knowledge of music. After all, access to a seemingly never-ending pool of new releases, new editions and purchased collections forms the ideal basis for continually developing and refining one's own taste in music. If you listen and look at Princess P., who lives in Bern, at her work behind the turntables, it quickly becomes clear that she has enjoyed an excellent (listening) education: for years she worked for Plattfon Records in Basel, one of the pearls of swiss recordstores, and helped shape the store's musical agenda in buying and selling. 
Accordingly, she selects records in every context with aplomb, surprise and flexibility, which bear witness to her genre-independent expertise: whether at zurich's club institution Zukunft (@zukunft), Elysia (@elysiabsl) in Basel or during the Montreux Jazz Festival. Aware of the musical foundations of the past, but always firmly anchored in the here and now and eagerly awaiting what comes next. Her DJ sets are based on savoury house with a touch of indie and techno. And, as anyone with an adventurous disposition knows, the detour is often rewarded with a more beautiful view off the beaten track.
