There is an understated elegance to the musical presentation of Vladimir Ivkovic. It is as if he isn't aware of just how good he actually is. Born in Belgrade, Yugoslavia and now based in Germany he has listened intricately to influencers and pioneers amassing an eclectic array of knowledge and taste. 

His sets are often difficult to process in regards to their lineage: disorientated and far reaching. Yet this is where their spectacular beauty lies, in the obscure and disjointed, the spaces in between stereotypical noise.

This summer he will appear at Houghton Festival, a brand new event being curated by Craig Richards in collaboration with Gottwood. We caught up with him as he delivers a special mix.

There is an heir of elegance and sophistication about the man behind one of France's most interesting record labels at present. Macadam Mambo is celebrating five years in business having released some spectacular music from the likes of Mori Ra, Traxx, The Pilotwings, Samo DJ, Muslim Disco Club and many more. The label was formed in 2012 alongside Guillaume des Bois and has since amassed a reputation for it's extraordinary variety and diversity in sound. Sacha also produces himself, MZKBX is a name familiar to many amidst the electronic music community and his own work draws upon an array of far reaching influences. These tastes are also represented through the music which he collects and plays out in clubs, a creative digger with a keen sense of exploration.

Frank Rodas aka Matt Fear is a London based producer and DJ, he co-runs emerging record Label 'Out The Flat'. A somewhat hermit like creature, when he's finally coaxed out, he delivers some wonderfully exuberant DJ sets, taking a scenic route through early hiphop, library, boogie, disco oddities, industrial, electro, rave bangers, left-field house and techno.

Sign Libra is the performing alias of Agata Melnikova, a composer and artist from Latvia. Inspired by the exploration of nature, the cosmos and their influence on human imagination, she creates sonic universes that feel simultaneously intimate and celestial.

Following her debut album under the Sign Libra moniker in 2018, composed for a contemporary ballet, she joined the incredible New York label RVNG Intl. in 2020 for her sophomore LP Sea to Sea. That album was my first run-in with Agata's wonderful work and one that I keep going back to. It’s a gorgeously playful, sonically rich and imaginative project that explores the mythical ''seas'' of the Moon, known collectively as Lunar Maria. 

Here, for her mixtape, Agata has once again drawn inspiration from aquatic themes, putting together a collection of tracks to soundtrack an 'imaginary underwater discotheque'. Her selections mirror the joyous and kinetic feeling of 'Sea to Sea' creating a mix packed full of serotonin hits.

Two hours of extraordinary selections by an underground connoisseur.

Maksim Panfilov is a reckless melomaniac and a passionate collector of vinyl. Originally from the industrial city of Norilsk, he now lives in Moscow, and has been DJing since 1998 – sharing his feelings for music in truly underground mixes and sets. “A mix for me has the presence of a certain concept in its entirety. Each track should engage through its rhythm, groove and emotion. It’s important to have a complete piece in the end,” says Maksim.

The two-hour mix goes beyond any style or genre, blending warm ambience, downtempo tropical percussion rolls, dreamy melodies, and jazzy motives amplified by classics like “Nlogax” by Boards of Canada or Tom Tom Club’s “Genius of Love.” “It’s a mix to appreciate while chilling with friends or on a road trip late at night,” he says. While listening to Maksim’s compilation, it’s impossible to predict the direction it will take in a couple of tracks. It’s amusing to plunge into the extensive sound valley between straight-up danceability and rhythmic experimentation.
