On October 10, 2025 Star Creature hosted a Techno Kayō Takeover: Rush Hour invaded Star Creature Vibes Radio for a special session of selections from and inspired by the recently released Techno Kayō Volume 1 compilation. Curated by two of the world's finest selectors and influential sound purveyors, Antal from Rush Hour in Amsterdam and Dubby from Ondas in Tokyo, the pair dive deep into the Japanese underground of obscure and abstract proto electro synth pop and boogie.

We got loose for over 4 hours worth of sonic explorations. The first hour is Antal playing some of his favorite Techno Kayō tracks followed by Dubby with a 30 minute mix of his faves.

The next hour begins the celebration of the newly released  Byron The Aquarius - Global Caress EP which was released to stores worldwide on October 10. Tim Zawada selects a few tracks from the record and mixes in a couple newer house leaning releases on Star Creature plus teases some upcoming white labels from artists such as LLL, Manny Steelo and Arsene. 

The final hour winds down with with TZ providing a selection of rare grooves, disco, boogie and jazz from around the world.

London-based DJ and NTS regular Babyschön a.k.a Safi Bugel brings her deep, left-of-centre sensibilities to Phonica’s Off The Record series with a mix that bridges the afterglow of summer and the shadows of winter. Known for weaving post-punk, Italo, EBM and oddball house through her radio shows and club sets, Safi has built a reputation for finding warmth in the darker corners of the dancefloor. This mix, recorded at home on a quiet autumn afternoon but inspired by her set at DIY festival Three Wheel Drive back in August, channels that same energy — hazy, melodic and a little nostalgic while still maintaining a solid dance ready beat throughout. We had a quick chat with Safi about her mix and what she has coming up for the rest of the year:

Fresh from starting his own label Insult To Injury, @timothyclerkin returns to Ransom Note Records with the 'Knife Edge Heart' EP. Stirring techno for dark basements and warm hearts.

With his debut solo album out soon on Phantasy, @gabe-gurnsey of Factory Floor stops by for a lurching, seasick remix of ‘Knife Edge Heart’ that sounds like the onset of the robot apocalypse we’ve all been promised for so long. 

After cutting his teeth as one half of Eskimo Twins, Timothy Clerkin launched his solo career in 2014 under the now-retired Heretic moniker. He’s since released on labels including Throne of Blood, Hard Fist and Days of Being Wild. Timothy’s last release on R$N was the 'Serenade' EP, which brought us plenty of special moments last year - most memorably Andrew Weatherall closing out his Houghton quarry set with ‘Execute’. Here’s to many more this summer and beyond.
