Cody stared right through this stranger 
And I knew he was in danger

The lucky banker said farewell to Rosie’s and departed 
Cody pulled a hunting knife and out the door he started 
Cody walked out toward him and approached him in the back lot 
“We’ve been comin here for years HE yelled, and never won no jackpot! 
You waltz in here with your fancy watch and walk out with that wad?
You’d better hand it over or prepare to meet your GOD! 
We came runnin’ when we heard the banker’s awful dying cries 
And I’m sad to say I seen it with my very own two eyes

He plunged the knife into him 
And it went completely through him

Cody now on trial for the banker that he stabbed in reckless fury 
To testify against a friend is harder than you’d ever realize 
I sat there in the witness stand and this is what I told the seated jury
