To find someone who’d ever been a teacher, or hell, a student?
And is it wise for oil guys with ties from here to Russia
To now decide how we reply to every global dust up?

I’m positive I’m just being negative
And negative’s no way to live
But honestly I can't see the comedy
In the oddity of all these nominees
Cause honestly I’m scared of what it means

The new attorney general is generally racist
He might strike down voting rights on some divisive basis
The protector of our environment should not reject the science
Consensus isn’t senseless and the risk outweighs the bias

I’m positive I’m just being negative
And negative’s no way to live
But honestly I can't see the comedy
In the oddity of all these nominees
Cause honestly I’m scared of what it means

The enemy of energy is suddenly oh so polite
And nuclear's no joke, you’d hope that he’d at least pronounce it right
I don’t mean to cast aspersions but what do surgeons know of urban needs
And a ranking banker regulating banks sounds like it’s ripe for greed

I’m positive I’m just being negative
And negative’s no way to live
But honestly I can't see the comedy

Cause honestly I’m scared of what it means
