The Navigator

An anti-war song inspired by two articles one from the New York Times and the other from Al-Jazeera both depicting pairs of brothers in which one of the two died in an armed conflict.


Lyrics:

Fightin’ over a desert land,
spillin’ blood just to stain the sand.
Wastin’ life for what’s beneath the ground,
hear that racket, what’s that sound.

Watchin’ people being put to death,
listen to them take their final breath.
These people, will they be missed,
tell me please what justice is this?

Chorus:

Why can’t we just find the love,
make peace, uncage the dove.
War for them would be no fun,
lookin’ down the barrel of a paper gun.

Dream of a war where no one came,
could they fight it just the same?
Love your brother let him be,
help the people of the world to see.

Look at all the wounds to heal,
feel all the pain we feel.
Hear the echos of the cry,
tell us why our brothers had to die.
