American military veteran, Disc Jockey and Electronic Dance Music record producer Valoramous and Australian Synthpop duo The Safety Word Synthwave single collaboration: Amnesia (Remixes EP).

The nostalgic single ',Amnesia’ combines synthesizer and drum elements of EDM, Hip Hop and Synthpop, while featuring the reflective, dream-like vocals of lead singer John Rousvanis from The Safety Word. The Amnesia Remixes EP features the original version of ‘Amnesia,’ as well as an eclectic array of six remixes in various genres from the following artists:

‘Amnesia’ represents a unique departure from the usual EDM genre of production for Valoramous, while also offering a fresh, stimulating message of gratitude from duo The Safety Word. The three artists forged a friendship and collaborated on ‘Amnesia’ due to their agreement that Western civilization currently suffers from amnesia as she forgets hard-learned and hard-won lessons of the past.

Despite all this it’s a positive track talking about how we are at a crossroads where we can choose to rise beyond this celebration of vanity and self obsession and reconnect on a human level.” Simon Quinn

The creation of this five-track ambient instrumental album was a cathartic process for us as we both went through deep personal struggles. We wanted to create an album that takes the listener on a journey to another world. A safe sonic place where they can leave all the worries, pressures, and stress of the everyday grind behind and drift off into a land of peace and tranquility. Inspired by artists such as Brian Eno, Boards of Canada, Carbon Based Lifeforms and Aphex Twin's ambient works. 

It is very different from our usual releases and is quite a departure from our usual synthwave/synthpop sound. On this album we take the listener on journeys through gentle ambient soundscapes. These songs were designed to help ease a busy mind and put the listener in a relaxed state both mentally and emotionally. 
We recommend using headphones to experience the album as it was intended.

Introducing the Ancient Remix - a deconstructed and reimagined version of the original song infused with EDM vibes that are characteristic of the artist's signature sound. This track delves into the absurdity of social media and how it has become a platform where individuals are celebrated and placed on a pedestal for doing nothing substantial. As a race, we have lost our way, with dwindling attention spans that make anything longer than a few seconds seem like too much of a commitment.

Despite the weighty theme, the track remains optimistic, highlighting the crossroads we are at as a society. We have the option to rise above this culture of vanity and self-obsession and reconnect with each other on a human level. To counteract the gravity of the message, the remix incorporates an indie disco/synthwave feel-good summer vibe that is incredibly catchy.

The Safety Word perform as a electronic duo their works inspired by post rock, chill wave and trip-hop sensibilities. The band consists of core song writing team John Rousvanis on (vocals/electric guitar) and Simon Quinn (laptop/keys) Their sound can be described as down tempo electronica with a twist of trip-hop and future R & B. Thrown into the blender are soulful vocals, abstract guitar, deep bass and ambient synth soundscapes.
