the lights dim, the curtains open
and i am center stage; im glowing thru my face

leave the audience amazed

get it off my chest

pulling needles of wood from my fingers
im building the set
designed to hold the best
the director has favorites
im not one of them
i showed a selfish whim and dishonesty to mend

i was careless and afraid that i'd get left behind
