"I Believe to My Soul" is a Ray Charles classic that has been covered by many great artists over the years.  This is a rocked out version of it, inspired by my current favorite band, Gov't Mule (@govt_mule) - who just kill on this tune. 

Thanks again to Willie for working with me on this - I totally enjoy every second putting these tracks together - even the painful mixing process which just drives me crazy!

This track is another from the 1973 sessions and, in a way, noteworthy because it is the only song of Bri's to which I wrote lyrics.  When he first played it to me, he hadn't yet decided on any words and I can remember hearing myself asking if he'd consider letting me write them.  No, I don't know why I said it either.  Had never done it before and certainly not since, seeing as it took me a month or three and this is still the best I could come up with.  It is a great tune, though.  
I had always thought that the addition of some clarinet, a kind of 'theme for Michael', would add so much to the track and have had the extraordinary good fortune that Michel Martineau (https://soundcloud.com/michel-martineau) agreed to play this over 40 years after the initial recording was made.  When I heard it for the first time, I almost wept with joy.  I think it's perfect and hope you'll agree.  Michel, my friend, thank you so much.
