Kelopelo was born in Muroran, Hokkaido, Japan,and grew up listening to artists such as De La Soul, Arrested Development, A Tribe Called Quest, Scha Dara Parr, and Pizzicato Five. This early exposure got her interested in dance music, which eventually led to her discovery of techno, house, drum’n’bass, and club culture.
She began her DJ career in the early 2000’s during her university years and started out playing several different genres from jazz to noise to bass. She was later shocked and inspired by the DJ play of Hiroki Esashika (who she would later marry) and began to focus more on techno and house.
In 2014 Kelopelo began to produce her own tracks as a way to expand her artistic expressions, and formed the group “Pessaelectro” with Hiroki. She is in charge of melody and harmony, striving for emotional phrases and a thick low end. In November of the same year, Pessaelectro performed at Plastic Theater as an opening act for Ben Sims at his Sapporo leg of the BEN SIMS JAPAN TOUR, where their live set was received well.

As “Kelopelo” solo, she produces dance music under the mantras of “a little bit of insanity” and “a beautiful life in an immoral world.” Going forward, she plans to livestream live sets and production sessions from her home.
