From an early age, music was a lifestyle for Danny Philpott. Raised in the East Texas piney woods where music was inspirational and told the story of country living. For Danny, it was ordinary to wake in the morning to his mother (who has an amazing voice) singing to Patsy Cline, Connie Francis and The Commodores. While weekends consisted of, working first and then backyard cook-outs (chicken & ribs) and his dad’s musician friends strumming and singing the Eagles, Waylon and Willie songs. This is where Danny’s inspiration for playing music began. At 15, he got his first guitar and learned a few chords but soon realized his friends we more advanced so he picked up the bass guitar to find his rhythm. Through his early 20’s, being the lead singer in multiple rock, funk & metal bands he learned a large scale of musical knowledge. In 2003, he became a father and through years of personal struggles, along with losing his Granddaddy, Grandma and Dad all in a year’s time and while facing a prison sentence, Danny took a long hard look at life away from it all. Hearing his dad’s voice saying “keep writing songs and playing your guitar” and “never let the hard times get you down” he went back to the basics to his southern roots to create the music of 
“The Southern Sparrows!”
