Goldfish return with their unique style of Organic House and the release of their brand new single: Deep Of The Night Feat. Diamond Thug.

It all started with Goldfish driving home from late evening surf in their home city of Cape Town, casually listening to the radio and serendipitously stumbling across a first, and what turned out to be only - play on air of a new band called Diamond Thug.

Immediately captured by the lead singer’s languid vocal style and the band’s acoustic sounds, the duo tracked the band down on Soundcloud to find that that they too, were based in Cape Town. 
A meeting with the two acts was immediately set up at Goldfish’s studio, which turned into an electrifying jam and writing session, and so a song was born.

Floating effortlessly over hypnotic rhythmic guitars, Chantal’s silky vocal gives the track luxurious depth with Goldfish’s signature organic production style evoking images of a night alone under the stars, juxtaposed with a thumping kick and driving bassline that builds into a Summery chorus you’ll be instantly singing along to. The lyrics point to a searching for something, be it inspiration, answers, closure or hope - in a world full of questions that can be found in the deep of the night.

Between their grueling touring schedule, relocating to San Diego, recording, and surfing in all four corners of the globe, Dom and Dave have been quietly and steadily building a reputation for incendiary lives shows and hyper-catchy releases that are poised to spill them over into the mainstream consciousness.

Continuing his astonishingly breakneck pace of top-shelf releases in 2017, SLYNK is already back at your speakers. “With The Funk” is an old-school hip-hop banger, dripping with that deep Ghetto Funk bottom end.

After a couple of harder electronic tracks, Slynk gets right back to the funky basics on the track. The live instrumentation, courtesy of The Bermudas (Jimmy, Pat, Chuck and Timmy), is warm and gooey, lacing the track with a grounded, familiarity that is only attainable with multiple people working towards a common sonic goal. What makes a protest song? The Specials should know. First time around, back when the 70s were lurching into the 80s, they sang of racism, war, unemployment and the rough edges of urban life, and never in the same way twice. As the multiracial flagship of the 2 Tone movement, they made a political statement every time they stepped on stage. June 2021 saw the 40th anniversary of their last and greatest protest song, Ghost Town, a record that will retain its eerie power as long as there are concrete jungles, empty dancehalls and desperate spasms of violence.
 
It's fitting, then, that in 2021 the Specials are releasing Protest Songs 1924-2012, an unpredictable collection of unique takes which celebrates the long history and endless versatility of the form, from folk to post-punk, from righteous uplift to biting satire, and from Kingston to Alabama. It’s a potent reminder that there are no fixed rules to templates for a protest song. All that’s required is the combination of something that needs to be said with music that needs to be heard. “People have been using music as a vehicle for protest since time immemorial,” says bass-player Horace Panter. “Injustice is timeless.”
 
“2020 was the year of protest, wasn’t it?” says Horace. “It was in the air. The hardest part of the whole record was deciding what songs to use.” Following the musical liberation of Encore, genre was no obstacle. Each song demands a different arrangement or tone of voice. “We thought, let’s throw out the musical constraints of the Specials. There’s not a tonic suit or Fred Perry in sight. We don’t want to deny our past, because that enables us to do what we do now, but we have our own creative minds to make up.”
