Arriving in the desert without any issues seems like it was a rare treat when listening to the many people's stories of their struggles on the road. 

This set was played while watching quite a few cars still pulling in, eager to get setup and hit the floor. It was my pleasure to wave and welcome them while those lucky few were hanging out listening to the music on the floor. It was a beautiful calm and warm day which set the tone for the rest of the weekend. 
Nothing worth having, comes easy.

ASHTON - RTTS, 14h00 - 16h00 Friday, May 2021 (That DAM Dancefloor)

I experienced the unimaginable this past weekend. 
A sense of soul satisfaction and accomplishment that I never knew to be possible. What started off as a feeling of intimidation and vulnerability by being asked to play at such an auspicious event surely morphed into an overwhelming sense of belonging and acceptance. 
What I would do to be able to relive those two sunsetting hours on the beach stage ... that eruption of love and emotion. Our blood flowed in unison through the beats on that dance floor and it is a memory that will forever be ingrained in my soul. Thank you from the bottom of my heart for including me in what I believe to be the slickest event and team I’ve ever had the privilege to be part of.

I will cherish my debut set on the spirit train for the rest of my days. 

Once my nerves subsided, I dived deep into the present moment for the task at hand - conducting LOBO’s Friday evening warmup route and transporting a desert gathering into an alternate dimension. 

I succeeded in my mission of communicating all the music I had intended. The message was delivered and the train reached its destination safely. 

My job was done and my soul was lifted.

After spending some of the best nights of my life dancing in front of the Spirit Train, it was a dream come true to play on LOBO…

AfrikaBurn, and its dance floors, have always been my happy place. My annual odyssey into the desert, has been amongst my greatest joys… This last year, the cancellation of the Burn, along with so much else, left a huge gap. I buckled down, and retreated into music – with music being the salve that got me through the year. 

So, to finally be back in Tankwa, but this time, spinning beats on the iconic Spirit Train was a dream… I opened up the RTTS party on Sunday night, playing to a full and thumping dance floor – and had one of the most epic experiences! The energy emanating from that dance floor; the lights; the colors; the smiles; the movement… It’s hard to describe how incredible that felt! 

What a joy to play in that magical place, amongst such master musicians. I’m counting down the days until I can return again… Thank you LOBO. What a gift!

I have to say, it was one of my best Dj set at a burn event so far ! 

Such a good energy around. I was so stressed before my set that I couldn't even talk. But, right after the engine of LOBO started, and we could hear Awoooohoooooo everywhere, the joy began…  

And when I started my set, all the stress was evacuated instantly ! I had to play disco funk mashups, to make a difference with other artists, and I love when people ask me to play something different to make the difference 🙂 So I prepared something really happy, and at the end it was totally random songs: feeling the vibe with the crowd. And spreading the love (with stickers) to everyone. 

Such a wonderful team the Spirit train has, I’m so glad to meet them all and play on this mythical train ! 

When we just arrived at the tree, it was Aretha Franklin that was singing “freeeeeedom” It’s hard to describe all the joy I had during this set. Many thanks for the invitation.

There’s few words to describe the emotions during this maiden voyage for LOBO after a 5year hibernation from motion on a desert plane. 


It took me back to 2015 when we 'landed this UFO' on planet Tankwa, with jaws agape and warm 'welcome back' expressions out yonder.

The opening speech (by the late Bill Hicks) seemed a fitting kick-start to this week of curated music, and highlights what we as a community can achieve - together. From that point i was incredibly honoured to play (the now infamous) 'LOBO's Call'...a re-work (produced by Dj Offroad/lyrics by MK) of a ritual sound-scape that embodies the spirit of this beast.

Long Live LOBO :)

Hy lovely burner-community and hello world, I dreamed so long to go on a Burn, now this year finally I get it and it was insane I’m still overwhelmed it was so amazing to be on a spot like this, and be part of an really amazing camp like the Spirit Train Camp.
 I met so many beautiful souls and happy people that filled my heart with so much love. Not only that I was part of this enchanting camp  I also had the honor of playing on our Artcar Lobo.
I've been a DJ for over 10 years and have played a lot of shows around the world, but no show so far has been like the party on the Spirit Train.I'm still trying to process everything because it was so beautiful.
The crowd was amazing, I've never seen a better one in my life. I'm glad I went to this camp, they felt like my new family from the first minute, we laughed so much and sometimes cried with joy, it was just a really nice time.
I would like to thank everyone responsible for this wonderful time together and thank you to everyone who danced and laughed with me.
Here is my LOBO live DJ mix that you can now listen to again and again to have these beautiful memories with me again. Stay healthy everyone, enjoy the beautiful things in life and have fun, life is too short to be in a bad mood. I hope to see you all again soon and have another magical moment with you.

LOBO's Call

This was my second time at Afrikaburn and was such an amazing experience to perform on the legendary Spirit Train! The team devote so much time and energy into giving people the most unforgettable experiences and I felt the energy of this love and commitment during my set. 

The people of Afrikaburn give without expecting anything in return so I thought I could do the same by giving my heart and soul into this performance.

It was just like any other burn, it always gives me and you what we need. No matter who you are it will shake you up in ways you never could be shook. Once again I get to call the burn the truth bringer. 
I went to the burn with the intention to say goodbye to LOBO. This sound soul journey has been one of the most joyous and profound in my life. After all these years I am still in disbelief, that how is this possible? Yet it is and we get to feel it and be with it. Playing music in the desert with LOBO just gets better. It is not something I can ever get use to or take for granted. Higher and higher is where it takes me. 
It has been a privilege and I am forever thankful to Mike and But for this gift that is LOBO.

Sunday morning with all our friends present under the beautiful butterly left us speechless. We started off pretty ravey, previewing a few unreleased tracks from Faffa and Los Jetsons, including “Your Highness” which is releasing on Back To Funk Records end of July, when the light came out we toned it down a notch playing some spacier records to ease into the light. Incredible memories that we will cherish forever. Thank you spirit train crew and of course the beautiful burners that shared it with us.

From the heart of Lobo, Luna signalled 'pink'' that sparked the rising of a new trio to form. It was clear LOBO’s howl was in-sync, as a fresh style of melodic techno was born. 

The energy of the fire grew in its unpredictability. It moved and danced through us all sharing infinity. Initiating the birth of a newly found trinity. 

A release was allowed over the proclaimed sacred site, as we celebrated the birth of Luna, welcoming that beautiful rainbow light.

Saturday night at The Burn is the final chapter of the week that is. There is a saying that The Burn will not always give you what you want but will always and most certainly give you what you need. This set reflected pretty much the complexity that the Burn bestowed upon me. Oh wozers did it deliver on what I needed!

Despite my low energy before I played, simply because I had spent such a focused week working on The Train, the first track sorted me out and five minutes in and the energy from the crowd sent me straight back up. That energy was crazy beautiful. Wow I cannot begin to describe!

Starting out the week with a childish and playful approach ended on Saturday with a somewhat complex, deep and somewhat edgy with a sprinkle of trickster. That need allowed me to take a journey not done before in my musical journey..... This set was completely unplanned and was totally happy with where the energy and the crowd took me. My spirit dwells in the heart of this lovely train and the magic that it casts on those that pay attention to it. Gratitude!
