The Goodmen - Give It Up

The 'lost' debut album from  the 90's London band. A much loved force on the live scene back in the day, getting a lot of press and attention at a time when indie was booming. The Honey Smugglers shone briefly but brightly and split before the nascent 'Britpop' scene (which they were part of) exploded. Having release only two EP's, this is that lost debut album, showcasing their groovy, melodic and often eclectic sound embracing the Beatles, XTC and like so many of their contemporaries,  a love of the 60's and 70's.
Lots of psych, pop, groovy baselines, occasional dance beats invention and hammond organ. WA fascinating musical portrait of the time between 88 and 92. Who knows what might have happened if they'd stayed together.

The Stranglers Banned are experienced musicians who create a unique show capturing the energy and passion of the original ‘men in black’ built around a truly amazing back catalogue spanning many musical styles from punk and rock through to psychedelic, electro and more. 

Rick (singer) and Jezza (keys) were founder members of legendary ska band, The Skatonics. Wanting a new challenge after 5 years playing ska they decided to set up a new band focussing just on The Stranglers’ music. The band started  gigging only last year and are already in great demand. In a short space of time the band is rapidly developing into a top UK tribute act playing some key venues and supporting well known acts such as Bad Manners and Max Splodge and building up a large following. 

The Stranglers Banned faithfully recreate the amazing and very distinctive sound of one of the most extraordinary bands in the history of rock music which outlasted and outsold virtually every other band of the era with 10 hit albums and 21 Top 40 singles. They play all the Stranglers’ biggest hits and a lot more using play original Fenders, Hammonds, Moogs etc like the original band and they even own the very same keyboards played by The Stranglers’ keyboard player, Dave Greenfield, for many years! Fans have frequently commented how some of their covers are even better than the originals – just see their versions of No More Heroes and Mean To Me on YouTube!
