Oh Fugue You!

After a break, we are back in the 8-Bit Discord Weekly Challenges! This Week was to arrange a song for beginners to play and thus I arranged 12/20/82, a favorite of mine I've wanted an excuse to arrange for a while. Enjoy!

12/20/82

Here is my take on the title theme from the original Metroid! I first arranged this for a weekly challenge where the longest duration we could have was a quarter note, but I've since gone back and made it more... traditional.

It's Secret Santa time again, and this time I've reworked five of his themes - Buy Buy Buy, Get em' off of me, Speed Shoes, Flight of the Mysterious Inverted Airship and Pufferfish Fugue - into the style of Star Wars Episode IV: A NEW HOPE's title crawl. I'm planning on going through the rest of Imperial Attack in the same manner, I just couldn't finish it in time for secret santa.

Blast Off!!! - Title Crawl

Hi there! This is my third go around for this secret Santa thing, and this time I got Teagan Adventures. Teagan has this 16-Bit Era JRPG Style with their music, so I decided to arrange the track "Military Medical Institute" as if it was the theme for a different area in the fictional game, in this case a quaint, wintery town. It was great to listen to people that I haven't heard before, and this was a pleasant surprise!

R/S/E End Credits

Revelry was originally intended to be a trio between a violin, viola, and cello, and significantly shorter than it's already small length. Then, I heard of a competition in which the grand prize get's its piece played by an orchestra if it's at least two minutes long and uses standard instrumentation. So for no particular reason, This piece has been extended to be just over two minutes and uses all of the standard instrumentation of an orchestra. you know, just for fun. definitely.

This is an entry for the 8-bit weekly challenges, so titled because it was originally the third and final movement of a larger-scope work, but alas time constraints made it the one movement of the piece. Thankfully I have since learned to always write a self-contained movement into my plans for my inevitable failure.

Movement #3 of 1

Another entry for the 8-bit Weekly Challenges! This time the prompt was to arrange something for winds exclusively, and having done a lot of wind arranging, I figured I had to enter.

Mimiga Town

My latest entry in the 8-bit weeklies, and my favorite to date! This one was motivated by two things. 1 - I want orchestral black MIDI. a full orchestra playing black midi, with no shortcuts or time for such trifles as "good playability" or "good grammar". 2 - to show the versatility of the orchestra as a whole rather than winds + brass + strings + percussion, and after some arduous yet fun work, this should show all non-believers just how well the two work together.
