Soph and I met maaaany moons ago (20 years maybe?!) whilst in Bristol attending one of the many legendary parties at The Black Swan. The night carried on to a glorious sunny day in a park that geuinely is one of my happiest memories (i maybe should credit LSD here also just a tad too ;)

Soon enough we began teaching DJ lesson groups in and around Bristol youth clubs. Soph's talent, infectious vibrancy and enthusiasm made/makes them an inspiring joy to be around and has clearly helped solidify a powerful career in cutting edge electronic music. Through the years i have remixed for Soph on multiple vinyl releases on their label One4Ho alongside Blue Daisy, Clark and other legends ...and basically this is one that has just been gathering dust ...but imo potentially the best of the bunch ;)

Myself and Jon grew up on notorious estates in neighbouring towns to eachother, in North Wales. We literally shared line ups with one another whilst we were still in high school. His passion for underground techno was and probably still is unrivaled ...except for maybe my own passion for hardcore techno. Both considered kind of weird outcasts at the time, i like to think that that fuelled us to be the artists we are today. Hes always been one of the hardest working producers/djs that iv known and it has payed off ten fold. I did this remix for him probably 10 years ago. I hope you enjoy.

Myself and Smyla first collaborated on my album, 'Tank Alligator'. In the 10 years that have passed since then, i largely had to rane in my once prolific, relentless avalanches of material, so i could focus on improving my mental illness and health issues.

Well, the time has come to return to my old ways of making all of the musics all of the times, and, im starting with OFJ! ...and im starting with the most criminally underrated producer in Drum and Bass, Smyla.

Last time we became form of Voltron, I supplied the kick drums and he supplied the amens ...Simples!

With this release however, weve gone solo to cook up our own, unique monsters. Breaky drum and bass at its most heavy and darkside.

Hold on to your butts ...because were coming for your heads ...and if your holding your butts, well, youre not protecting your neck, are you, so youre heads will be easy pickings.

This is the sound of 2 distinct beasts in 1 distinct jungle ...and it really is just the tip of the iceberg.

THERAPY SESSIONS BRISTOL SET SEPT 2017

I'm in a pretty unique and privaledged position in music. To the hardcore crowd and artists, im the man with the amens. To the hard drum n bass and breakcore crowd and artists, im the man with the kickdrums. This suits my personality, i like doing my own thing and seem to hover on the fringe when it comes to most things. 

Defqon booked me this year and in my mind i had 2 options, i could go in, play it safe and take the oppurtunity to play an all kicks set therefore pleasing the masses. Or i could try something most people wouldnt. I thought that everyone was going to be playing kicks, so in a festival of amazingly monstrous 'dengs' and 'ongas' (kickdrum sounds btw), i was worried about my choice but i chose to do something a little different. This was it. 

Im pretty quiet online these days apart from some promo and posting on Instagram and when i do post words its usually about mental health awareness and less about music directly. I cant begin to explain the importance and how much being able to do what i do and be a part of the things im a part of keep me alive. My passion and appreciation for this shit and the people involved is so intense and quite frankly fucking wild. It gives me goosebumps just typing about it, so thank you... 

The day i played was also my birthday (7 years ago i also played Glastonbury on the same date. Its the best date of the year haha) and i was celebrating it with some of my oldest friends, which happen to also be my main peers and inspiration. Vinnie Paul from Pantera had also died that morning. This is a recording that iv done in the studio as i dont think Defqon were recording and if they were, its probably not a set that they'd put out. I might be wrong on that, i dunno... I do know one thing though, this is for sure, 'Big Fuck Off Rave'.
