Hausmusik 11 (1995)

Cathedral Street, leading from O'Connell Street to Marlborough Street, was once colourfully known as Elephant Lane. The origin of the name is unclear but it is possible that there was a menagerie close to the lane in the eighteenth century. One writer says that the name came about because a large elephant was burned to death there in 1681, but this incident actually occurred in Essex Street. The elephant was taken to Dublin for an exhibition, and on the night of 17 June 1681 the stable where he was being kept caught fire and the elephant died. Large crowds gathered the scene, and when the fire was extinguished they proceeded to take parts of the elephant away as souvenirs. The remains of the elephant were dissected by a Doctor Mullen, who preserved the skeleton and sent it to London. Mullen complained afterwards about the Dublin butchers who had assisted him in this task, saying that they were too quick to "cut and slash what came first to their way, and their unruliness did hinder me from making several remarks which otherwise I would have made." The events of that night were commemorated in the name of the popular 'Elephant Tavern', which traded in Essex Street for many years afterwards.

Elephant Lane

A talent from an impossibly young age, Chicago producer and DJ Ron Trent began his musical career aged 14, the year he produced the febrile, wild Chicago anthem "Altered States". His production output has barely let up since, minting numerous labels and sublabels to release his and other's music, most notably Prescription Records, which helped define the smoky and jazz-indebted sound of deep house in the 1990s.

This In Focus is a two and a half hour dancefloor session, exploring the sounds of one of Chicago house's most enduring talents. Compiled, mixed and edited by Secretsundaze.

For this Fantasia I was very excited to have in the DDR Studio Efa O'Neill. Efa is an Irish Dj I've looked up to since starting Djinh almost 3 years ago, Efa gave me one of my First mixes on ddr in February 2021 that really pushed me to be the dj I am today! It was such a pleasure to have Efa on as I looked up to her so it was a special one  💕💕💕

FUTUR∑WAVES Series 08 - Mr G - Caths Back Gratitude

During the pandemic, I started cycling and listening to music through a bluetooth speaker strapped to my handlebars. I made a mix that I listened to countless times and I shared it here. 4 years later, I'm still doing this several times a week. I've made dozens of mixes, I've mix tested demos, I've gone through new purchases on Bandcamp ahead of gigs. It's been one of my main outlets for listening to music generally.

I've finally followed up to that first mix with Volume Two here. I think this is a good mix to exercise to, to go for a cycle or a run, or maybe a late night drive. It's also good for a dance. Hope you enjoy it :)

No Handers Mix: Volume 2

Raised in Osaka's underground scene and based in Berlin since 2018, AATY is credited on releases by Shot of T, Pocochin, and Klasse Wrecks, and currently works with SVN and Robotron1000, among others. In this mix he has made for us, he shows us his way of sonic storytelling. Using dubbed-out floaters and shimmering techno/house, his well-crafted tale will take you on a psychedelically swirling trip. He is also a noodle maker and has set up a noodle factory in Berlin, so ramen-heads in Berlin should keep an eye out for him for that as well!!
