1. Wonderful Intro, seems to be of very emotional importance to you, can you tell us a bit more about it? 

The first two tracks are by Masayoshi Takanaka who’s absolutely amazing. The set also ends with one of his songs to generate the feeling of a full circle experience. I wanted to make the listener feel like they’re going on a journey and thought this album narrating the story of seven rainbow goblins along with Japanese Jazz Fusion, Psychedelic Rock etc. worked perfectly. I love how the very first track slowly transports you into this magical fairytale. 

2. There is a lot of Italo Disco & Synthy Pop tunes in your mix and we love it! - what is your relationship to these sounds? Geil! 

Yess I initially wanted this to be a Funk set, exploring different types of Funk music from a variety of countries, which is why a big part of the set has this funky disco sound. But I figured it would be fun to incorporate more such as Tuareg guitar and African Synth music, along with more classical electronic tunes by including Kraftwerk and Buttechno aha. The percussions and rhythms used in African music can be mixed quite well with electronic music and, having Nigerien roots myself, it was important for me to show that the African music scene is extremely varied and offers a lot more than the Folk or Afrobeat music people most generally think of. 

3. This is a very eclectic set - what was your approach before making it? In which set-up do you picture people listening to your set? 

Thank you ! I’d say curating actually took me the longest because I wasn’t entirely sure of the energy I wanted to bring, even if the funky bit was pretty clear to me. Because I wanted to mix different genres and create an experience with sounds from all over the world, I based myself on that to select tunes that I already wanted to use for a set, which is mostly how it came together ! I focused on the beginning and the end of especially more percussion heavy songs to figure out which  ones fit each other best and the rest naturally went from there. 
I haven’t really thought about the setting people would listen to it, but I mostly wanted it to be a musical journey, which is why I included so many different genres :)

Felipe Gordon sin lugar a duda no ha sido en vano uno de los productores más prolíficos de los últimos años en la capital. Luego de tocar en algunos de los festivales más respetados de la región con algunos de sus anteriores proyectos. Felipe se ha dedico durante los últimos años a viajar por el tiempo, reconstruyendo universos sonoros y produciendo tracks alrededor de la música electrónica.

Luego de Caracas; ep que lanzo con Nein Records y de Mosaico Andino que lanzó bajo el sello Forbidden Cuts. Gordon decide presentar junto con Nómada Records: Sample Colossus. Un álbum que recoge de manera meticulosa y arqueológica elementos del Jazz, Funk y la gran variedad de sonidos africanos, para transformarlos en tracks frescos y arriesgados; además de contar con algunos remixes a cargo de Monomite de Francia y Hotmood de México.

There is no doubt Felipe Gordon is one of the most prolific producers of the Colombian capital. After playing in some major festivales in the region with his side projects, Felipe has dedicated his latest years to travel through time, to rebuild resonant universes and producing tracks around electronic music.

After El Caracas Ep which was released by Nein Records, and Mosaico Andino from Forbidden Cuts label. Gordon chooses to release through Nomada Records: Sample Colossus, an album which build itself in a meticolous manner with elements from Jazz, Funk and a variety of african sounds, transforming it in fresh and hazardous tracks, also holding 2 international remixers; Monomite from France and Hotmood from México.

Quavius, the deep south vagabond known for his raw and sophisticated dance collages returns to Lustwerk Music with his second EP for the label, Find Ready. 

While mostly an instrumental affair, Find Ready is an updated glimpse into the producer / rapper’s latest repertoire, ranging from the sunny, Baltimore club-influenced house of “Flo Central” to funky Motor City workouts like “Heaven Is In You” and “Find Ready”. The EP starts off on a high clip with a nostalgic, forward-driving deep house instrumental, “That Beat.”

Quavius dons the mic on three of the seven tracks. “The Gist”, the EPs cornerstone, sounds something like a Rakim-meets-Sensate Focus. The A and B side are each topped off with downtempo Hip-hop. “Let it Rock” and “Fa Sho” are contemporary updates on cloud rap that bleed atmosphere and confidence while revealing Quavius’ knack for tight songwriting and arrangement.
