Southern Exposure Records presents the first digital release from Naarm-based three-piece Blue Communications: the double single Australian Summer / Simple Delight.

Despite forming only in late ’24 and having no recorded music out until now, Blue Communications have already made a striking impression on Australia’s live scene, supporting acts like Mess Esque and Itchy & The Nits, and delivering a standout recent set at Make It Up Club.

Strong believers in the Morning Music Movement, the band rehearses almost exclusively in the early morning, accompanied by coffee and pastries. Influenced by artists such as Young Marble Giants, The Clean, Nico and Marianne Faithful. The breadth of sounds from the trio in their live sets is reflected by these influences and captured in these first 2 singles.

Australian Summer settles you into the warm haze at the tail-end of the year. Its stripped-back arrangement, anchored by a cheap nylon-string acoustic and gently layered with bass, lap steel, drum machine and studio oddities like a found chord organ, creates space for Aine Keogh’s striking vocal performance and vivid, romantic lyricism. The track captures a rare sense of time and place, holding the emotional weight of the season with ease.

Australian Summer will release on 28th November 2025
