Forest Meeting is the debut EP of Witch Princess where she shares her signature sound of atmospheric, tribal and very psychedelic downtempo & psychill storytelling.

💜The Journey after Trøllabundin asks us the intriguing question: What happens after you have been «trøllabundin», «bound by trolls», spellbound? This opening track is actually a continuation of the track Trøllabundin (Witch Princess Remix) by Eivør. The shamanic drum, the mystic atmosphere, sounds of various animals, the humming crone, the ancient instruments like flutes, didgeridoo and lyre, and hypnotic rhythms of shakers and percussion leads you ever deeper into the trance, and enchants you into a fantastic and magical world of the imagination.

💜Forest Meeting is a very groovy love story full of deep mystery, sweet longing and wild desire, where the boundaries between the human world and the realm of the forest spirits are fading, and we get to meet and dance together under the setting sun and the low hanging branches of ancient trees.
The story itself is based on a love story from Witch Princess ongoing fantasy book that she has been writing on for over a decade, her own experience with being alone in nature and connecting with nature spirits, and also it draws some of the magic of a very powerful meeting she had in woods one summer…

💜Guardians is another journey into a mystic forest, but this time with a more daytime vibe, where tribe elders and the younger generation sing together, and flutes, birds and psychedelic voices answering their call. From the driving kick & bass, and groovy percussion you are called into the dance with your ancestors and present friends alike, remembering that we are here to celebrate the Gift of Life.

💜Snow Raven - the closing track of the EP, is a tribute to Snow Raven, an indigenous singer and Arctic conservation advocate from the Republic of Sakha (Yakutia) in arctic Siberia, with the hope to share her important message to an even wider audience: Bridging the human and spirit world. How to live the ancient wisdom of our ancestors in our modern lives. And to remind us that we are all part of something greater. That we are all indigenous to Mother Earth.
Combining nature and animal recordings with an insisting kick & bass and drum selection, and a very psychedelic soundscape, Witch Princess again shares her signature sound of atmospheric, tribal and very psychedelic storytelling, and calls you all to the dance.

Music is a gateway. Within it there are mystic portals that can transport you to parts of this world you have never walked.

The name of the track hints at the magical possibilities music has to be gateways into different states of consciousness and into other realms entirely.
It was such a beautiful process creating this music. Like a wild dance in the forest where hidden gates kept opening and inviting me to step in to learn their secrets.

Combining my favorite elements: nature recordings, real instruments and electronic sounds, you will find in this track creaking trees, birdcalls and small running creatures, haunting flutes and kalimba in a mystic eastern scale, singing in call and response with trippy psychedelic sounds spirits and beautiful longing vocals. All driven on by a slowed down powerfull psytrance style kick&bass and groovey percussion. There is even a theremin singing in there.

I am very happy to share my lates track with you all. It is a remix of a truly magical song: Trøllabundin by the amazing artist Eivør.

Deeply inspired by this magical and enchanting song I have made a tribal psychill remix of it.  
The original track, which you absolutely must check out, consists of the Eivør playing a shamanic drum and using hers voice singing in her native language Faronese. It is a one of a kind.

I want to make clear that this track is an UNOFFICIAL REMIX, meaning that Eivør has not been involved in the process of making this remix. I have bought her song, chopped it up, looped the drum and many parts of her voice, and then I have added many more elements like percussion, shakers, a shaman voice recording, nature sounds, owl recordings, bass, synths and much more. 

It is very bass heavy, like you can slowly sink deeper and deeper into it, and I am totally in love with it myself!

As many people are writing and asking me where they can get this song to play in their dj sets and in various ceremonies, I have decided to give away this remix for free, with the hope and intention that many more people will get to hear it, and be touched and spellbound by the enchanting voice of the artist.

Liquid Moon - Daytime is Playtime

This is my shamanic downtempo live set from Liquid Moon at HotHotHot Festival 2022 that was preformed during the beautiful Cacao Ceremony we opened the night with. 🧙‍♂️🧚‍♀️🧝‍♀️🧚🦉🦋🐍🐾🍄🌝🪺🍀🪘

It was preformed with Ableton live using loops and jamming live from different sample libraries, and it is my first ever live set. 💫✨💥🔥

Originally there where 3 amazing women, Hanna, Mona & Angelica, accompanying me with live drumming and using their voices during the preformance. Unfortunately the recordings from the microphones where not captured in a satisfying way, so I decided to release the live set without that. 🧙‍♂️🧙‍♂️🧙‍♂️

I had really the best time playing there in this secret magical forest clearing, taking in the incredible sweet vibes of the tribe-friends enjoying there. Dancing, chilling, stretching, making out or just hanging out enjoying some delicious chai and delicious company. The Spirits of the Forest where mingling there with us for sure. It was truly beautiful.  🐸🦉🐛🪶🐾🍄🍀🌞🌸🔥✨

I want to say a big thank you to the Uhrla Tribe, and especially to Sara for inviting me into your festival and company to share my sound and energy with you all. I feel very grateful and honored, and I am still tingling with a sweet crush on my new Swedish tribe-friends. 💜

The words are from my ongoing fantasy book that I have been writing on, on and off, for more than 15 years. 
The project has only been for myself and my own personal enjoyment, writing in bulks whenever inspiration visits me, and I have not shared any of it with anybody really. 
And as I have no intention of ever publishing the book, (but who knows what will happen), I suddenly felt inspired by my new musical creation, to share some lines from the book as a backdrop to the musical journey, that I think turned out very sensual and beautiful.

Midnight Groove

During the last year I have been diving deeper into my own ancestry of nordic folklore, the viking age & norse religion, Norwegian cultural inheritance and local mythical creatures of nature. 

The result is Ancient Secrets! A tribal psychill track with an older nordic vibe. 

Get ready to be transported to a wild and mythical Northern realm, where ancient viking instruments like lyre, bone-flutes and mouth harp can be heard in between the cracking trees in a magical forest. Shamanic drums, flutes and recorded nature sounds, mix seamlessly with a slowed down psytrance kick & bass, drums and  psychedelic sounds. I am unmistakingly trilled and entranced by this journey. 

As the main call and response theme, there is this otherworldly female voice singing in the traditional nordic cow herding style called «kulning», so haunting and so beautiful. And the cute little forest spirit who lingers in this place, is very curious, and who is becoming more and more enchanted by the song and calls back. 

I am so happy with this track. I feel it is so mystical, deep, beautiful and very groovy at the same time.


The female voice is the Danish artist Myrkur. I came across her YouTube channel while searching for kulning samples, and in this video she explains what kulning is, and is showing different ways of how kulning can sound. I highly recommend checking out the video, and her music!

Ancient Secrets

This is a tribute set for our beloved friend and norwegian psytrance legend Ketil M aka Alien Viking!

In the early 90’s Ketil M went to Goa and discovered psychedelic trance. And it quickly became his biggest passion and life style. 
After some time he wanted to also release this kind of music and he started his label Northern Psylights Records together with his friend Flips (Leif Erik Askeland), to promote the nordic forest psy sound, and also to promote new upcoming artists from the scene in Norway and abroad.

Also well known artists like Ajja, Gaspard, Yam Yum, Trold, Braincell, Full Face, Kala and Arjuna has been on Northern Psylights Records releases.

Hi Friends! 
Here is an exclusive Soundcloud release of my new track!

This track is a remix/remake of the song Kulning 3 by Bjarla.

Deeply inspired by the beautiful and hunting kulning vocal of Alexandra Kupriyanova, I wanted to play this song as the opening track for my tribal downtempo set at Forest Star Festival this year. 
Only thing was that the original song is very short, only 2,5 minutes, and I wanted the intro to be much longer. 

So then I got creative and made an evolving pad out of the track, and started adding other soundscapes, drones and didgerido. 
Then I started to record shakers, a rainstick and other atmospheric sounds, and finally I added a few arps, flutes and percussion. 
And then it all turned out to be this magical sound journey that I am totally in love with. 

Another thing is that I made this song so that I could mix my remix of Eivør’s Trøllabundin track perfectly into it. They are in the same tempo and key, and with the long intros and outros there is a long time to smoothly blend them together.

And then, to let you in on a little secret, I have another track already finished, that will be released next year, called «The Journey after Trøllabundin…»  that, (as you probably guessed), fits perfectly into the Trøllabundin remix. And together they create this long, beautiful and mystical sound journey with a deep grounding energy and an ancient nordic vibe. 

As this track is an unofficial remix I will not put this song on Spotify, or sell it at Bandcamp. You will only hear it here on my Soundcloud, and in my dj sets.

There are invocations and indigenous prayers in the songs, tribal rhythms, nature sounds and organic instruments.
The energy is uplifting, and can take you both deep and high.

I have recorded a Cacao Ceremony intro, that is about 10 minutes long. 
Here the invitation is to sit down, with a cup of Cacao, and you will be guided through a short grounding meditation, we will take some deep breaths together, and there will be time and space for you to find your intention for this journey.

And you don’t need to drink Cacao to take this journey! 

It can also be a meditation and dance session, or background music while you do some yoga, wash the floor or do whatever you need to do. 
The music will gradually build up to an ecstatic part, and if you are listening to this while doing yoga, I recommend to do some full body shaking, or/and some powerfull breathing to really get the energy flowing through the whole body! 
And always take care of yourself, and listen to what your body is telling you it needs in the moment. 
Awareness - thats what we want!

The Tribal Spirit - Cacao Ceremony & Ecstatic Dance Journey

Det Svarte Får / The Black Sheep

I am exited to share my new song, or more like a 15 minutes long storytelling sound journey to transport you to the fairytale and lore dripping scenery of old summer farms in the Western Norwegian mountains. These small farm cabins are called seter, and are isolated small farm houses, often far into the mountains, with summer grassing for the cows, sheep and goats. And is where the farm women spent most of their summers taking care of the animals, making cheese, cream and butter.

Imagine late summer, still light, but it is starting to get a bit darker closing in on midnight, and something dark is moving about half hidden in the woods surrounding the seter… 

I have always been deeply fascinated by this part of the old farming life style, and in my vivid and fantastic imagination, what magical things that must have happened at these places, with trolls, forest spirits, huldra and so many more mythical creatures roaming the mountains woods…wild mushrooms growing in the grass… those mild and light summer nights…just women there alone for long periods… I mean… it must have been wild! 🐾🌸🦉🍀🧌  🍄🌚🔥🧚‍♂️

So I made this deep and slow soundscape, put on the headset, placed the microphone in front of me, closed my eyes, dived in and just listened. And very soon I got totally transported to this ancient mountain seter, and this story started to tell itself through me. The words came in my native local dialect from Western Norway, with words from old fairy tales and folksongs. I found my crone voice and let it just express. Such a healing and strong experience. 

I recommend listening to this track with good headphones and lay down and take a deep and relaxing soundjourney. 
Can also be nice listening to while walking in the woods a friend shared...

I am very happy to share my set from Mystic Creatures festival, where I played a 3 hours tribal and psychedelic downtempo journey at the wildly magical Creatures Corner Thursday night.

What an experience! On an island shrouded in mist this stage was really actually a witches village, with mystic creatures lurking at every corner, not to say on the dancefloor. And a gigantic witches cauldron boiling in the middle of the dancefloor. I mean; could it exist a more perfect space for me to share my witchy sound!  💜🦉🐾🍄🌚🔥🔮🧙🏼🧚‍♂️💖

I am very grateful to have been invited to come and play my downtempo style at this beautiful gathering. It was the first time I played many of my new and unreleased tracks, and it was truly touching to feel the entusiasme, energy and togetherness from all of you. 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
So many smiles, hearts, moments of going deep, moments of flying high, so many magical moments.

💜Forest Meeting is a very groovy love story full of deep mystery, sweet longing and wild desire, where the boundaries between the human world and the realm of the forest spirits are fading, and we get to meet and dance together under the setting sun and the low hanging branches of ancient trees.
The story itself is based on a love story from Witch Princess ongoing fantasy book that she has been writing on for over a decade, her own experience with being alone in nature and connecting with nature spirits, and also it draws some of the magic of a very powerful meeting she had in woods one summer…

💜The Journey after Trøllabundin asks us the intriguing question: What happens after you have been «trøllabundin», «bound by trolls», spellbound? This opening track is actually a continuation of the track Trøllabundin (Witch Princess Remix) by Eivør.

The Journey after Trøllabundin

Beloved Dwellers and Friends!

Here is the recording from the first Morning Dance Meditation at Dwell, held at Saturday 30. January from 09.30-10.30.

The meditation start with meditative music, a support for connecting with the breath, and some nice and easy yoga to stretch and prepare our bodies, grounding ourselves and getting relaxed and ready… Then we will dance!!! 
Starting with some soft and beautiful music, and gradually waking up the heat in the body, before we, with the support of trance music, disappear into dance meditation! Yohooo!!!

The session will close with a sacred blessing followed by a silent meditation, an invitation to deeper explore the space inside of total relaxation and joy.

Night Spirits Calling (Meditation edit)

Once upon a time a young Witch went into the heart of the forest, to a grove where there rose out of a rock a freshwater spring. She knelt down beside it. Around the spring a pool of black water reflected her face back to her. 
She called upon the spirit of the spring to teach her what to do. 

“How can I conceive a great set?” she asked. «A guide for my people to connect with the spirit world. A musical journey to help them let go and dive into the mystery that is themselves, to melt in devotion and love.» 

A breath of air disturbed the surface of the pool. In the shifting water a reflection began to form. She was dark haired, dark-eyed, brown-skinned. Antlers crowned her head. She was strong. She had broad shoulders, and the muscles of her arms and legs were hard under the skin. She was a master of the bow. Her arrows could find a bird in flight or a deer in the thicket. She spoke with the spirits of the animals and learned their secrets. She knew the language of the four winds and the songs sung by rain. She could count the number of the days since the world was made.
The Witch heard the woman’s voice inside her head. A voice that calmed her and felt the woman’s hands caress her face. 

«The stories we tell reach deep, even to the roots of the world». «You know the way». «Now be still. Be still and listen».

The Witch felt the world shift beneath her, and from deep inside a space of stillness started expanding. She closed her eyes and allowed it to grow. And she drowned in the vast space of her inner chamber.  
From deep within a sound was growing…. filling her…filling the forest grove… filling the world… filling the universe…

This recording is from a beautiful gathering in Bergen, Norway January 2020. It was a real joy and a declaration of trust to be invited to play a 3 hour set at such an intimate gathering. Thank you for this night! <3

Beloved friends and fellow travelers on this beautiful journey that is life. 

Here is another recording from a live Morning Dance Meditation that I made and held at Dwell in Bergen, Norway.

The structure of the dance meditation is like this:

Yoga - 15 min
Dance - 35 min
Meditation - 10 min

So the invitation is:

We start with relaxing music for yoga and stretching to gently awakening the body.

Then the music for dancing will start (with a call to dance), softly at frist and gradually building in tempo and intensity until finally the full take-off with wild psychedelic trance! 

Then closing of the session with meditative music, spoken words and the beautiful voice of Snatam Kaur. Here the invitation is to sit or lay down, bring all the energy and attention inside your self and just rest.
The meditation part will end with some minutes in silence, then a gong to let you know the session has come to an end.

Witch Princess is the musical expression of Mallika J Y Herland, a passionate explorer of the wonders of sound and rhythm, residing in the misty mountains of Western Norway. 

Deeply inspired by trance inducing music, folklore, storytelling, nature, plant medicine, spirituality and the psychedelic community, she creates musical journeys intended to send the listener on a magical ride from the outer world, through our inner world, to connect with the mystical spirit world.

After over 18 years of sharing her sound-magic, Witch Princess has gathered around her a dedicated tribe of world & electronic music-lovers, and is well known to create wild and ecstatic energies on the dance floor. 
Being a lover of all kinds of music, Witch Princess loves to mix and morph different genres to take the listeners with her on truly unique, magical and psychedelic sound adventures. 
From the beautiful lush soundscapes and deep rhythms of psychedelic chillout and mid-tempo genres, to the trippy and hypnotic depths of dark prog, minimal psy and forest, to the uplifting and driving force of progressive and fullon psy, Witch Princess explores it all, and often in the same set.

«I early discovered that music can take you to a space where the mind gets quiet and the body turns kind of liquid, where the perceived «you» totally disappear, and where there is freedom. In this natural ecstatic trance, the portal has opened and you can just melt into a meditative state. And I just love to share this wonder with others on the dance floor.»

Between being booked to perform at various events and festivals in Norway and abroad,  Witch Princess arranges sound gatherings, cacao ceremonies, ecstatics dance, downtempo, techno and psytrance parties, and releases her own music with her event and record label Liquid Moon.

Combining nature sounds, organic textures and world instruments into electronic music production, Witch Princess creates magical and psychedelic sound journeys, with the intention to go deep, to uplift, to transform and unify.
And for the last couple of years there has been a calling to explore and create music with a more ancient nordic vibe and this can be felt in her upcoming releases.
