ZebProj - "Untitled" [WIP]

In the Matrix Trilogy, there is this awesome sound made when going to and from the Matrix. Their sound was created using MetaSynth, a commercial piece of software that allows you to "draw" sounds. I attempted to write a poor-mans version of this using Csound and python. 

What you are hearing is a sonification of the image accompanying this track.

This is part of a concept I've been developing for algorithmic instrument design. 

The sounds are all algorithmically generated. A three-part static score is read by three generated instruments. To demonstrate the variety, I have done the regeneration ten times. Note that the score does not change.

Using the modular nature of Csound, I've been able to algorithmically generate a unique orchestra inside of python. Every instrument is made up of three basic module blocks: controllers, signal generators, and signal modifiers. The signal generator passes through a signal modifier. Both these modules are optionally by the controllers. Using randomization there are several possibilities for both randomization and routing, even within the simple constraints of the instrument design.

A track I've been working on for a while now. This was made for my EP-401 class at Berklee. It's another attempt at meterless tracks. Tools mainly used were PaulStretch, Csound, Perl, and Reaper for the final mixdown.

Orbitar Intro

A little while back, I created a detuned saw instrument which could emulate that dance sound heard everywhere five years ago. Originally, all it was was a cluster of 9 detuned oscillators playing saw waves. Tonight, I decided to modify my original idea and make it more complex. I first added lowpass filter with an envelope, with the the filter becoming more open as the notes get higher. I also added some crazy vibrato to 1/3 of the oscillators. The rate changes slightly as the notes get higher to give it a crazier sound as it gets higher. finally, I made sure all the oscillators were all detuned differently to give it a more phat sound.

The sound was created in the free program called Csound and had some quick reverb added using Reapers native plugin ReaVerb.

An implementation of a Python script which generates glitch drum scores. Other instruments rendered in Csound. Everything was rendered in Csound. No post-production.

A short little algorithmic composition written in Csound, inspired by the Jackson Polluck drip-painting "#10" displayed in the MFA.

This was written using Csound with a python generated score, and can run in realtime with visuals on the Raspberry Pi.
