Silence.
It was the only thing that mattered.
Shutting ourselves away in a bubble, keeping everything inside, feelings or anxieties, fears or impulses, nothing was to come out.
The desire to isolate ourselves from others was, in the beginning, in our eyes, a way of preventing ourselves from making them suffer with our ills.
It's by cutting ourselves off from the world that we lose the human in us.
Most of the time, we are forced to resort to this option when an emotional shock or trauma becomes too much to bear.
Our wounded heart, thinking it will be repaired, forces us to submit to our impulses in order to purge our being.
Artificial paradises, such as alcohol, help us to drown our unhappiness, but they don't make it go away.
The higher the dose, the greater the physical and psychological consequences.
The mutilation, the self-destruction, the desire to leave this world, to see it disappear with us, the desire to put an end to this cycle of chaos, intensifies. Chaos stays within us.
Buried in our bubble, without saying a word, these impulses rise little by little, but yet, impossible to scream.
Silence is a pact with the devil, with ourselves.
It muzzles us, weakens us.
People watch us wither away, and we can't beg them to put an end to our suffering.
Silence reigns supreme in our minds.
