This mix represents a sampling of the incredible diversity of rhythms and styles of Latin American music, past and present.  The African diaspora has a heavy influence in Colombia, Peru and Brazil and beyond--these deep rhythms underpin the traditions of Afro-Peruvian singer Susana Baca and Cape Verdean legend Cesaria Evora as well as the Brazilian vocal group Barbatuques (remixed by Yemanjo, Ohxala and Marcelo Berges respectively).  Elsewhere the sounds of Andean flutes, guitars and charangos give organic flavor to the modern sounds of producers like Rodrigo Gallardo and Mente Organica.  Throughout, we feel the spirit of past masters and a respect for the deep history of these idioms as these producers bring them onto the dance floors of the future using today's audio wizardry.

Karma Carnival happened in 22nd of April & it was a magical evening. Here is my live recorded mixtape.

I set the vibe, intention and started this full on long night ride with this shamanic, organic house music. 

So the first track was from Yaima with 85bpm and I went all up to 120 bpm Afro house and did it all by passionately, slowly rising the speed, tempo & energy.

Lately i have been remembering my high school time (ESCU / EÕEL, Õpilasliit times) favourite music I used to dancee soo much  Fix - Tsirkus - that was the last track on the ride, so hold tight its a 1h44min journey. 

So inspired to follow this path with those amazing people on the dancefloor and listening for soothing in the night. 

Thank you for being part of my creation and supporting me, helping me grow to be more intimate with the music I am playing. I just realised again that when as DJ if I am enjoying the music I play sooo deeply (and much), then the mixing is coming sooo chilled out and aspiring too.

Shamanic & downtempo to organic & Afro Deep house live @ Karma Carnival April '22

One of my favourite Ecstatic Dance sessions I played this year so far - Feels like a good first one to share, following nearly a year of no posts, as I launch my Pro Soundcloud account, moving away from Mixcloud. 

This really was a beautiful & powerful cacao fuelled journey; played live at the Ecstatic Experiences retreat in Devon back in Spring. (next retreat's/weekly dances here: https://linktr.ee/ecstaticdance.uk)

Take a few breathes, have a shake, close your eyes and let the music move you & the ceremony begin. As always with EDance we start grounded and steady, so skip 10-15mins if you wanna get into the beats faster :)

➤ About the EP : 
"Yohana"  is a journey into the shadows of the jungle. The sound of these songs are heavily influenced from my first experience with Abuela Aya, where she came to me, in my mind and body, in the form of a serpent. She spoke to me, showed me her power, her essence, I felt her movement and heard her sound, and I connected deeply with her spirit.  I saw the shadow world that exists parallel to our reality everywhere, I learned that the energy of the shadows cannot be defined as good or bad but have their own unique power and influence on us.

➤ About the song :
"Yohana" is the musical embodiment of that experience, drawing fusing together organic and tribal elements and warping them to create a psychedelic jungle atmosphere. This approach to creating was used in the production of each song in this EP.
