The 5/8 Boys (Isaiah, Davonn, and Bryan) wrote and recorded this Public Service Announcement as part of Charlottesville's Safe Routes To School grant in the summer of 2008.  Special thanks to volunteer Sam Voelkel for coordinating the effort and supplying vocals.

RideRight (PSA)

In the spring of 2007, the boys of Abundant Life's 5/8 Club, an after-school life skills program in Charlottesville, VA, analyzed the lyrics of several rap songs. We then asked them to write four lines about something significant in their lives. We were blown away by the rawness and poignancy of the boys' work. With the help of volunteers Sam Voelkel, Bernard Hankins, and the Music Resource Center, what began as a simple writing exercise became the song, "Identity."  The boys repeated the process, recorded two songs, and went on to perform at several community events and sold 100 copies of their debut EP.
