“Elixir” - Caduceus - Live @ The Bluebird - 2/24/22

Had so much fun playing this set unexpectedly for The Bureau of Hindsight's final Deep Down party. The set starts with melodic house, then builds to funk-house, tech-house, and some dirty techno. Finally, I end with what I love to play most, breaks. Hope you enjoy the journey, and appreciate your comments.

Real Name: Alex Everett

Current city: Atlanta

How did you come up with your dj name: The name is rooted in my Slavic ancestry and is based on a house spirit of a given kin who has a wild sense of mischief. Being a music producer, I tend to spend a lot of my free time at home in the studio, and in addition to my mantra of not taking life too seriously, I thought this name suited me well.

How and when did you get into djing: My curiosity in DJing came along with wanting to independently record and perform music without having to rely on additional musicians. Discovering underground electronic music while in college, I gravitated towards house, trance, and psybient genres, and after attending my first rave, I’ve embarked on a journey of practicing endless hours mixing in my bedroom. Eventually I’ve got good enough to land gigs at the local bars, college parties, and weddings. 

Who are your musical influences and what is your inspiration: I find inspiration in history, films, and nature. Some of my influences are: Be Svendsen, Simon Posford, and The Grateful Dead. 

Describe your sound as a DJ: I have an improvisational approach to my sets and I try to focus on telling a story with the music that I carefully select to represent me. My perfect set recipe would include lots of percussion, groovy basslines, mixture of organic and synthesized instruments, seasoning of world sounds and a dash of melancholy. 

What does the future hold in store for you as an artist: I am currently working on my first EP, and I’m preparing to attend my 6th Alchemy burn this October in LaFayette, Georgia where I’ll be playing at multiple sound camps.

It was so much fun to prepare and play this set. Its a bit more chilled out than my regular sets but I had fun combining the styles of Discognition and Cubicolor together to create an organic vibey set that moves more into progressive themes as it ends. It was awesome to play for one of my long time favorite producers behind both Cubicolor and 16bl. Anjuna fam really came out for this one!
