Astros de Mendoza, formed in México in october 2012 by Alan Olivas “Pirul” and Diego H. “D2000”, by exploring a huge variety of tropical and electric sounds from all around the world. 

Astros de Mendoza presents the first official album of remixes to Los Mirlos mythical banda from Peru. 

After start a beautiful friendship on the 2017 European tour in which some shows shared the stage, the idea was born of making this material together with several friends who are producers of the new electropical wave from different parts of the world to honor 47 years of career of the creators of the psychedelic cumbia.

El dúo mexicano, Astros de Mendoza, conformado por Alan Olivas “Pirul” y Diego H. “D-2000”, fue creado en octubre del 2012, al explorar una gran variedad de sonidos tropicales orgánicos y electrónicos del mundo. 

Astros de Mendoza presenta el primer disco oficial de remixes a Los Mirlos mítica Banda de Peru. 

Después de hacer una linda amistad en el tour de europa 2017 en el que compartieron escenario algunos shows, nace la idea de hacer este material junto a varios amigos productores de la nueva ola electropical de diferentes partes del mundo para honrar 47 años de carrera de los creadores de la cumbia psicodélica.

Astros de Mendoza - Cabalgando con ella (ft. Demian G)

Lua Preta (@luapreta) is an Angolan/Polish duo that has taken the global bass scene by storm in the past few years. Since the end of 2017 they managed to put out a series of successful releases, play a great deal of well-received shows at festivals and clubs all over Europe (plus two gigs in New York), shoot a bunch of music videos (one of them being filmed in Lisbon) and catch attention of @brankoofficial himself who remixed their song for his renowned 'Enchufada Na Zona' compilation. In 2020 they went on to prepare a debut album called 'Diaspora' - a seven tracks collection showcasing their characteristic catchy Afro sound which included 'Baile Lotus' (played by Diplo in his BBC Radio 1 show), 'Vim Para Vencer' (collaboration with South African rapper Robin Thirdfloor) and 'Drena' (featured in an official Spotify playlist by Adidas).

Now five of the songs from the last year's release come back with new versions prepared by producers from five different countries. United States' @tonyquattro highlights Ms. Gia's vocals from 'Drena' and freshens up the beat by adding guitar riffs and swirling flutes. @djraff, one of the most important electronic music artists from Chile, skilfully slows down 'Baile Lotus' and in an unexpected turn of events pairs it with cumbia turning the track into a Latin-flavoured beauty. Further into the release, Africa's star producer @gafacci adds his signature style to the instrumental side of 'Ao Som Dos Homens' - but don't worry: Ghanaian's famous 'shut your mouth I beg eh' vocal hook is very much there.

'Diaspora Remixes' finishes off with two remixes by European artists. Firstly, original vocals take the centre stage again in the club-ready rework of 'Sente Batida' by respected Italian producer @lamentomusic. Last but not least, French drum master @ruffkaval provides a perfect closing track with his wonderfully crafted version of 'RTE' which has been enriched by additional thumping patterns and... birdsongs.

Lua Preta - Baile Lotus (DJ Raff Remix)

London-based duo Village Cuts explore Afro/Latin music through the lens of UK club culture,  in both their productions and lively events across the city.

In their first collaboration with Palenque Records, the duo have shaken up some much-loved modern classics from the celebrated Afro-Colombian group, Son Palenque, with the sound of hand claps, maracas, tambores and chants lending themselves suitably to club interpretations. Village Cuts also enlisted the help of Kenyan collaborator Shama, who recorded new sebene-style guitar to complete the release. 

The EP-opening remix of Damelo Acá is a thunderous peak-time banger driven by the classic Son Palenque call-and-response vocals and rolling percussion, building towards an eruption of soukous joy when the new lead guitar takes centre stage. 

Their version of Zamba is a dynamic and up-tempo flip, with rolling sub-bass and choppy beats. The original guitars direct the rhythm, before joyous melodies and infectious ‘Zamba’ chants command energy from the dancefloor. 

Last but not least is a club-warming rendition of Akalaka, featuring the heartfelt saxophone of Colombia’s legendary Michi Sarmiento, emitting euphoric bliss. The track is driven by its club thump and catchy vocals, plus psychedelic sound design to lift and transcend.

These 3 tracks breathe new life into the revolutionary and entrancing grooves of Son Palenque, for the next generation of party-goers. Primed for summer time sound-systems and sure to make you move!

While some might consider DES a newer artist, he has been on the scene as early as 2012 with his massive single on Moveltraxx, Jumpin Duck. With remixes from Lazy Ants, DJ Earl, Javier Estrada, Vatican Swag and Oui’wack (now Wiwek), Jumpin Duck was a heavy-hitter.   With his last release in 2014 on the Tunacat Label REBIRTH, DES now returns with Milan / Florence, a heavy Afro-bass EP on VOODOO REBEL inspired by a trip from his hometown Milan to VR’s headquarter Florence, with three original tracks and three remixes.   
The EP moves between DES’s banging electro house sound and VR’s more tropical, experimental sound, with remixes from global bass heavy-hitter’s Motin, the Italian Balera Favela ambassador prp, Tunacat’s Boogaloo & Bizt. The title track creates the right tension with a tribal African chant that transforms into a subdriven, powerful cumbia/breakbeat track. Ramen & Churches stands out as the most wild track on the EP, with a high-pitched synth and batucadas on a loopy chant. Florence / Milan is a slow moombahton track, where the Brazilian berimbau meets a digiridoo for a mystical, middle-Eastern feel. 
On the remix side, Motin gives us a superb remix of Florence / Milan, creating a minimal moombahton track. Prp’s remix of Ramen & Churches drives the dance floor into a middle-Eastern journey, with six vibe-heavy minutes of intense teleportation. Last but not least, Boogaloo & Bizt turn the original into a groovy house tune, driven by a hypnotic synth and an irresistible drum pattern.
