this song is about that veterans of the u.s military kill themselves or OD at an super disproportionate rate compared with other demographics.  the last year of which there is available data was 2022, and there were an estimated 6,407 veteran suicides in this country, if we had 6,407 kia everyone would lose their mind.  however, it’s the model of selective giving a shit.  

i’m have not nor ever have been in the military, i’m kind of an anarchist, but the people who fought that war and basically all wars throughout time are what i think we should forever label “kids”.  not children, but a 20 year old is “just a kid” to me.
