Dysfunction returns to Drum Pusher for their first solo EP release. Following on from a jam-packed year of releases in 2023 and hot off the heels of their remix of Nuke - Petrify, Dysfunction brings us a 4 track project that pulls together the sounds of minimal, liquid, jump up, dubstep and techno.

The titular track "Frostbite" is a melodic yet dissonant blend of minimal and liquid. Drawing on themes of loss, isolation and recovery, it nicely sets the tone for the rest of the EP. "Storm in a Teacup" continues these themes, combining Dysfunction's signature drum sounds with a driving minimal bassline, euphoric pads and a melancholic vocal hook. Taking a dive into minimal dubstep/techno/raggaeton fusion, "Gadolinium" is a gritty 140 ode to the darker sounds of underground music. Finally, "Say it Again" ends the EP on a more optimistic note, reflected in its lighter jump up sound.

Fat Cap, a seasoned DJ and renowned producer, made his mark in 2007 when he was recognized as an "up & coming DJ talent" by Cows On Patrol, a leading drum & bass platform. He's received nominations for "best producer" and "best track" in the Cows On Patrol Awards, thanks to his impressive releases.

Notably, he secured the 2nd place in a remix competition for Dj Fresh's "Louder" and has crafted exciting remixes for Portuguese artists. His music has graced esteemed labels like Counterpoint Recordings and Flex Recordings.

Fat Cap's journey includes playing at clubs and festivals in Portugal until 2019, when the pandemic disrupted live events. In 2020, he explored Hip-Hop with "Colectivo 258," but 2023 marks his return to drum & bass.

This year, he's focused on what he loves most, releasing two tracks, "Prove To You" and "New Era," available on SoundCloud. He's also sharing his captivating track "Cold Lines" as a free download.

What started out as a university project has evolved into a real record label with an identity and a vision. We are extremely proud of what Vault is becoming and we are even more grateful for the artists who have entrusted us with their art. 

We are celebrating with our largest project yet, an ep featuring remixes of our favourite releases from our foundational year as a label. We’ve collected remixes from very well-respected and abundantly talented producers including, Nick The Lot, 4K, Kontakt, Posk, Geo & Bruxley. We feel these artists represent the sound and direction in which Vault will venture and this project is step along that path.

"fleeting memories; feigning happiness" is a personal journey for me that follows, among other things, the course of a romantic relationship, the stages of grief that came with it, and my understanding of my eventual diagnosis of bipolar II disorder. I suppose I'll leave it at that.
