Since South Yard started as a music label in 2015, we have come a long way. We have edited music from more than 50 artists and have opened ourselves to different genres of Drum & Bass than we had in mind at the beginning of this project. That’s why we’re excited to present you with this compilation that brings together the best of what represented us in our early days, jungle and dubwize. Those were the days!

We remember when we started, everything was new and exciting. We didn’t know what the future held, but we were eager to find out. And here we are, years later, with a playlist that represents the best of our early days. There are songs from then and now, but we will always remember with fondness the jungle and dubwize, which opened the doors to the world for us.
It’s amazing how time flies, isn’t it?

Introducing the second South American artist pack on OneZero Samples from none other than Dunk & Acuna straight out of Brazil. The Brazilian DnB scene has been strong for years with huge names like S.P.Y and DJ Marky emerging from there in the early days of DnB, now the new breed is taking over with names like L Side, Urbandawn, Acuna (formally Critycal Dub) and of course the master of minimal, Dunk!

These two producers have been relentlessly releasing on an uncountable nnumber of labels in DnB such as Critical, Playaz, Born on Road, Souped Up, Dispatch, 31, CIA, Sofa Sound and many, many more. The pair are a force to be reckoned with and this pack infuses their sound together perfectly. With a mix of minimal, jump-up and rollers tastefully crafted and ready to drop into your projects for instant vibe the possibilities are endless. Featuring loops, one shots, Serum presets, Reason presets as well as full track stems, you won’t need to reach for any other packs for a while!

Heavyweight trio Travesty returns to Tytanium Armour Recordings with two refreshed versions of dark and dirty back catalogue cuts. Characterised by a sound influenced by countless sources but nevertheless dominated with grit and groove, Travesty have found a home for their neurofunk-oriented releases on Tytanium Armour Recordings. Geographical proximity and a shared musical palette shaped by the darkside sounds from the early ‘00s ensure that the artist and label work together in synergy, resulting in a release which pays homage to the foundational sounds of contemporary drum and bass with all the edge you would expect from a 2024 production. 

Opening with an updated version of their 2018 neuro stepper Enclosed, Travesty instantly demonstrates their ability to straddle the boundary between the musical past, present, and future. Travesty substitutes a distorted reese bass from the original track with a more resonant bass reminiscent of Optical’s output from the late ‘90s and early ‘00s whilst still preserving the bassline’s melodic progression and skippy drum pattern of the original track, injecting a fresh boost of energy into an already monstrous tune. 

Techstep veteran Skru graces Tytanium Armour Recordings with a remix of Containment for the second and final track of the release. Heavily distorted reeses and thunderous amens come courtesy of the artist who has secured releases on labels as legendary as Tech Itch, Renegade Hardware, and Serial Killaz. Here, the language of fast breaks and deep basslines spoken by techstep ensures that the relationship between jungle and drum and bass is as visible as ever.
