MC Fokus and Medic MC continue their exciting new project, X Bar Theory. The next chapter in this ever-developing series is their debut EP. This new collaborative alias fully represents their love for the art form of MCing. Their distinct and uniquely different styles contrast and perfectly complement each other. 

Forming a complete group with a hand-picked unit of DJs and producers, they aim to preserve and respect the culture with a passion for putting lyricism at the forefront of the music. Each track illustrates their journey through music, particularly as lyricists. 

'Style & Substance' is aimed directly at the dancefloor - the Trex produced original and club mix, showcase their varied styles, flows and rhyming patterns. 

'Double Life' details the challeges of managing working life whilst building music careers - late nights, no sleep and lots of driving. Splitting the tune into two distinct parts, Subtle Element reflects the change in pre and post-rave story as the beat patterns switch. 

'Animated Verses' brings the lyrics to life, lighting up pages with words and fully representing their love of the half-time beats supplied by AM94 (previously known as Test Switch). 

'No Empty Words' takes their half-time journey deeper whilst detailing their creative process, one for the real fans of lyricism. Working in harmony with Fearetical and championing fresh production talent.

After five years of planning, writing, and refining their sound, London-based production duo Kolectiv are set to release their long-awaited debut drum & bass album, Circadian Rhythms.

The project began in the aftermath of the pandemic, when the pair started setting aside tracks that captured the spirit of a night out at a drum & bass event. Their vision was clear: to create an album that reflects the variety, energy, and progression of a rave – from the first beats that pull you into the closing sounds that carry you home.

“Going out to drum & bass nights, you’d hear so many different flavours across six or seven hours. We wanted the album to follow that same arc – like a circadian rhythm, a natural flow of time, but in this case the cycle of a rave,” Kolectiv explain.

To achieve this, the duo placed a strong emphasis on originality and sound design. Most of the album was built from scratch using their own recorded samples, crafted through sessions with keys, drums, and guitars, and only dipping into external sources when absolutely necessary. Vocal collaborations from PAV4N, Hijak MC, Illmatika and Kerry Donnelly add unique flavour to the project, while carefully placed interludes tie the project together as a complete listening experience.

“This isn’t just a collection of tracks. We wanted it to be a journey – a cradle-to-grave kind of experience – with highs, lows, and moments to breathe.”

The title Circadian Rhythms captures that intention perfectly: an audio diary of a night spent immersed in drum & bass culture, told through Kolectiv’s trademark blend of technical precision and emotional depth.

The project also coincided with a complete studio overhaul, giving Kolectiv a fresh environment to finalize and mix down the record with a renewed sense of clarity and focus.

With Circadian Rhythms, Kolectiv deliver more than an album – they present a story, an atmosphere, and a tribute to the music and culture that shaped them.

"fleeting memories; feigning happiness" is a personal journey for me that follows, among other things, the course of a romantic relationship, the stages of grief that came with it, and my understanding of my eventual diagnosis of bipolar II disorder. I suppose I'll leave it at that.
