Rohaan had asked me to do something to his MUSKET track. And this lil PHACE VIP is the outcome. It's stripped down to its essentials, and I kept it pretty short too. I wanted the VIP to be something exclusive and fun to throw in during my sets, and it works pretty well on the floors. We decided to make it PATREON EXCLUSIVE for you. I hope you dig :D

The deep, dark sounds of Malux are next up to make an appearance alongside a huge line up of artists for Crissy Criss’ ‘War on Silence’ remix project and it gives it a darker underbelly as it progresses into its next phase. Already featuring names such as Junk Mail, Neonlight, Defectiøn and more, there isn’t a stone which has gone unturned as the album approaches its final few singles as it nears competition. Beside Defectiøn, Malux produces another incredible addition to the string of releases and highlights why Crissy Criss was such a legendary selector during his time on the drum & bass show at BBC Radio 1, as well as how the curation of this project has caused shockwaves throughout the genre’s community on its announcement.

UK based Malux takes ‘The Ride’ ft. Carasel and moves it layer by layer through his unforgiving overtones. The track crackles through brooding LFOs and it packs a punch with every layer of crackling bass. It’s the type of cut which will slice through speaker stacks as it detonates on impact and its proves that Malux is here to stay in 2024. Following in quick succession is Defectiøn, who keeps the original’s ominous feel but steps it up a gear through freefalling atmospherics and snipped up patches of its vocal sample. Each well chiselled groove moves one into the next before you’re taken along for the ride, adding another rung to the ladder of Defectiøn’s repertoire. One he’s flexed throughout this series.

The features within the back catalogue of War on Silence are steadily growing. Although given such an incredible foundation by Crissy Criss, which was its self-titled album and his extensive experience, this was the only outcome from a label run by himself.

Ten years on from the release of his highly acclaimed, award-winning debut LP ‘Emulation’, Mefjus shares five of the album’s biggest tracks with his label-mates at Critical for the 2024 remix treatment.

Mefjus himself reworks original title track ‘Emulation’, flaunting his untouchable studio skills by balancing frantic rolling drums and expertly engineered sub bass with a his trademark otherworldly sound design to unleash an almost impossibly energetic track.

Enei and Calyx take a tune each; with Enei reworking ‘Suicide Bassline’ into ultra-hard, minimal jump-up monster, while Calyx injects his signature molten, twisted bass into ‘Surrounded’ to make it all his own.

Two of Critical’s most recent recruits complete the package, with VISLA transforming ‘Saturate’ from a moody roller into a gritty stomper and Bristol-based SMG bringing ‘Change Of Mind’ featuring MC Maksim bang up to date in style.

Critical Music welcomes back Dutch producer Waeys for his first release of 2025, following a busy year of collaborations, remixes and solo tracks.

‘If Not Me’ drones, steps and snarls its way rapidly into life with a detuned bassline stretching across a spacious two-step beat, decorated in just the right places by bars from MC Sylla.

As the name suggests, ’Backhanded Wobbler’ is… wobbly. But in a very good way, with a squelching, acidic jump-up bassline going wild across skipping drums for a track that's as sonically interesting as it is energetic.

Emperor, having proved himself with heavyweight releases on VISION, Critical Music, UKF, Drum&BassArena, Symmetry, Inspected, Neosignal, remixes for Hospital and Blackout has become a force to be reckoned with.

Since his debut release - ‘Monolith’ back in June 2012, Emperor’s presence within the D&B scene has gone from strength to strength. Followed by the incredible ‘Jackhammer EP’ on Inspected records, which exposed a different creative side for the Lancashire born producer. His ‘Begin EP’ released on Critical in 2013 furthered his notoriety. Collaborations with Austrian powerhouse, Mefjus, on the prolific Hello World series, dominated charts and reinforced his stature as one of the heavyweights of Drum & Bass.

Deep, dark, emotive, uplifting... spanning a range of styles whilst retaining a unique quality. Each track bringing you a new twist on that distinctive Emperor sound. 2018 also saw the debut album for his alter-ego, Monuman. After releasing two collaborations on The Upbeats critically acclaimed 'No Sleep Till' project, Emperor started his own imprint - 'EMPR', starting out with Crybaby/Goblin, Daft Funk/Convex, as well as an exclusive series of tracks exclusive to Patreon.
