The Lure is a punk band with heavy grunge tones and blues leads from Newark, Delaware formed in 2016. The band started when Sean Carey (guitarist/lead vocals) entered his teapot pig into the pig racing contest at the Delaware State Fair. Andrew Blades (bassist/backup vocals), ordained judge of the contest at the time, had to confront Carey due to his unsportsmanlike conduct after winning the race and refused to award Carey the prize goldfish. Carey’s mischievous behavior would later play a key role as inspiration for lyrical content, as well as both players’ philosophical views. After Blades breakup with indie band The Fwapits, he knew the two would form a new group after they found their style of playing was inspired by the same artists, such as Nirvana, The Doors, Muse, and several of the blues players from the early 1930’s and 40’s. The string duo picked up Charlie Weidner (drummer) at a Christmas rock concert after Weidner was kicked off stage for drum soloing over the final act: ‘Silent Night’. They’re mission is to shake up modern rock’s current folk-pop style with their farcical, controversial and high energy sound in the same way  southern Gospel was shaken up by Blues and the origins of Rock’n’Roll...and they’ll smash a few guitars along the way.
