These two songs examine a concept of two contrasting social spaces, accessed ironically through a pair of headphones (which I recommend for listening). 
 
What’s Up?: Our private spaces, our immediate connections with friends, family, and lovers. The more important of the two, but often given less attention. To represent this space, I dealt exclusively with my own voicemail, to illustrate both my own regrettably full mailbox, and the calming sensation of listening through old messages— hearing familiar grainy voices paint distant pictures of home. Home is any place where someone is thinking of you after all.

What’s New?: Our digital, public spaces i.e. media, television, internet. Although important and large in scope and influence, too much time is wasted here. Anytime we turn on our televisions and phones, we are given a direct line of communication into popular culture, news, and an ever-growing domain of high-quality, grade-A, prime-cut, pure American bullsh*t, as George Carlin would say. In 2016 and now 2017, this domain has never been more impervious to our focus. This era of stimulation and instant gratification is distracting us from the people that matter most, and will not be around forever. In attempt to draw this chaos, I dealt exclusively with the absurdity of American politics and media, the quiet panic each time our eyes grab the latest headline from the soft glow of a device. The world is just too enormous for our undivided attention.

While exaggerating the effects of both, I only hope to make someone consider the possibilities. I’m offering you some of my music but also a personal glimpse into my thoughts. In short, tune out of Trumpworld for a week or two, get off of Snapchat, turn off your Instagram notifications. Try calling someone important in your life to tell them you love them, or even just to say hey.
