Dave Sully's journey into the world of DJing began in 1991, a time when his city was alive with the beats of House Music. Yet, his heart was drawn to the more daring and unconventional sounds. In those early days, he was spellbound by Belgium Techno, then hardcore and breakbeat. Under the guidance of his mentor, Colin Dee, he started showcasing his talent in various local venues. As time went on, a vibrant Oldskool scene in Cork flourished, fueled by a constant flow of house parties and the sharing of mix-tapes.

During the enchanting Golden Jungle era, Dave Sully's path led him to Northampton, UK, where he shared student accommodation with Jrumhand. Seeking a change from the prevailing Ragga sound, Jrumhand's influence sparked a new direction in Dave Sully's music, inspiring him to explore the captivating world of Blue Note-style Jungle.

However, around mid-1996, a transformative shift occurred with the emergence of groundbreaking music from labels like No-U-turn, Prototype, and Photek. Following his return to Ireland later that year, Dave Sully found himself amidst a significant turning point for Cork's music scene—the birth of the city's first pirate radio station, Radio Friendly. Suddenly, diverse groups of individuals sharing a love for the same music were connected through this underground broadcasting platform. For several years, Dave Sully and other notable figures such as Colin Dee, Dj Source, Feral, and Torque hosted regular weekly shows, cementing their presence in the local Drum & Bass scene.

A subsequent return to the UK between 1998 and 2001 saw Dave Sully's club performances steadily grow, as he aligned himself with various local crews.

Upon his re-entry to Ireland, a thriving drum and bass (DNB) scene awaited, with well-established crews like Fluid, Bassbin, and Phase 2 dotting the landscape. Dave Sully became associated with all of them at different points in time.

However, in late 2002, disillusioned with the direction of the DNB scene, Dave Sully made a conscious decision to turn his back on it. The genre no longer felt cutting-edge to him, leading him to shift his focus back to the cherished Oldskool sound. This decision was influenced by the degrading quality of DNB at the time, which led him to believe that his artistic growth and evolution would be better served by returning to his roots. For several years, he immersed himself in playing Oldskool tunes, enjoying great success throughout Cork city.

Jump to 2013, and Dave Sully found himself irresistibly drawn back to the realm of DNB. The sheer abundance and quality of the music being produced proved impossible to ignore. This marked a significant turning point in his career, as he is now closely associated with Jet Li Productions, revitalizing his presence in the live gig circuit while also dusting off his studio equipment.

This collection stands as an archive of Dave Sully's personal mixtapes, radio shows, and recent mixes, spanning over three decades of his illustrious career.
