Born on the shores of Durban, to a Zulu mother and a Sicilian father. Valencia Ferlito is a musical legend still living in his time. Due to the Immorality act was placed in a convent where he met a friend of his father, Barry Ward who took a personal interest in the young man and taught him classical music. Growing up in the 70’s and 80’s listening to soul, funk and Jazz. After school studied nursing but eventually ended up in Johannesburg playing funk and Jazz under Mark Momple and Charlie Sayers. After performing at a Christmas at Kippies with Faith Kekana was heard by Gavin Minter who recruited his talents in the band “Wired to the floor” and exposed his first production and recording skills. Since then he has recorded and performed Faith Kekana, Sibongile Khumalo, Mike Makhalimela, Wired to the floor, Syndicate Sisters, Gloria Bosman, Ernie Smith, Devante, Johnny Fourie, Gerald Weasley (USA), Earnest Ranglin (Jamaica), The planets (Sweden), Steve Dyer and then last but not least a name that needs little introduction SA’s Mr X – Sax , Mr Systematic , The Reaper from our latest artistic offering “The Reapercussions” a musical force to be reckoned with little, if not no margin for error. This musical outfit composes, writes, scripts, records, mixes and produces works in their Studio where they are guided by a force they affectionately call the Unimind, hence the name Unimind Studios. 
Sax was born in Empangeni, Kwa-zulu Natal or so that’s how the tale begins, found in a ward of in excess of five hundred beds by what many assumed to be a crazy, free spirited Jewish girl (one can only assume this was the Unimind at work AGAIN….), Doctor Lisa Jennifer Sacks in the making. Adopted and freed from the incarceration of those dark dreary hospital days, a free spirit was born, guided by the love and attention of the most awesome grand-parents the world ever saw (I know everyone thinks theirs are the best, but mine truly were #tag just saying). They introduced him to Classical music, Jazz music, Opera and funk, that was grandpa and then Gogo taught him I guess the most important lesson ‘English Language, the science of speech, she taught him how to speak, how to think, how to behave and appreciate the finer things in life. “Eloquence, Elegance, Fiction or Fact, Be good to others and it shall one day come back!!!” – Let’s call it, their mantra, philosophy, summary of what they taught him. Sadly aged Ten all this was lost and life took somewhat of a left turn, and I guess it was here that the ‘Percussive Poetic Poet’ was forged. Like hard steel moulded and folded in the harsh flames of reality, pain, hurt and regret, the life of a lyrical percussive poet was set. Music was his escape his manner of dealing and healing. Learning drums, Piano and Music Technology while at Caldecott Slough, Q.E.H Bristol, and Sherbourne College in Dorset and finally returning to St Johns College South Africa and matriculating from St Stithians Boys Johannesburg, a free drummer with quite an eclectic music taste was unleashed upon the world. While studying Contempory music with a major in Percussion, Covers with a Twist was born. Having played with many different bands as a drummer, he now wanted to try his hand at being a front man.
Uncle –V as the Pianist and Sax as the band leader’s right hand man, one could refer to it as management role but it was more than that. When one does everything from cleaning, picking up equipment, artists and bills through to co-ordinating, organising and Orchestrating live productions, recording and financially beneficial brand associations on behalf of artists, bands or brands, they are often referred to as managers. But we had so much more than that, so with these skills combined, the Unimind kicked in and The Reapercussions Band, Unimind Studios, and what we would like to present to you.
