🎫 In anticipation for Tei Shi’s November 18th Vancouver tour stop Biltmore Cabaret, we partnered with MRG Live to give two pairs of tickets away to her show.

Artist Bio:
🗂️Tei Shi (pronounced “tay-shee”) is the moniker of singer-songwriter & producer Valerie Teicher Barbosa. Growing up between Bogotá, Colombia, & Vancouver, Canada, Tei Shi is heavily influenced by her ever-changing environment. Her 2019 album “La Linda” further embraces her Latin roots & multicultural identity, seamlessly shifting between the languages & musical genres.

She wrote & was featured on Blood Orange’s ‘Hope’ off his album ‘Negro Swan’ & starred in its music video alongside Tyler the Creator & A$AP Rocky, also performing the song onstage at 2019’s Coachella Music Festival. 

2025 holds her fourth album, ‘Make believe I make believe’.

💿 The Ryze will be joined by resident DJs: Losso and Kikino, punctuating the session with a curated selection of tracks, placing the Tei Shi sound in a wider musical conversation. Halfway through the night, we will turn our focus to Tei Shi, listening through her discography and highlighting her latest album.

📻 This week, The Ryze Radio features @gogo_penguin — the Manchester trio who inspirationally blend jazz, classical and electronic influences.

Artist Bio:
Gogo Penguin, formed by Mancunian trio, pianist, Chris Illingworth; bassist, Nick Blacka; and drummer, Jon Scott are the prolific genre-defying band responsible for creating sonic compositions they dub as “acoustic-electronica”. Their largely (but not exclusively) acoustic music draws on break-beats, classical influences, jazz, minimalist piano melodies, powerful basslines, drums inspired from electronica and anthemic riffs.

On June 20, 2025 the trio returned with a powerful new album, ‘Necessary Fictions’, XXIM Records.

Session Details:
💿 @theryze_productions will be joined by resident DJs: Losso (@losso_____works) and Kikino (@kristenliston), punctuating the session with a curated selection of tracks placing the Gogo Penguin sound in a wider musical conversation.

Halfway through the episode, we will go into the segment where we turn our focus soley on Gogo Penguin discography before ending the night with an improvisational B2B2B.

Had a great weekend of listening!
On Saturday night went to Vancouver New Music 50th anniversary party and heard some amazing performances. 
On Sunday I went to Lobe Studios for Lucien Durey's spatial sound debut of "Speak The Weather". 

Afterwards, I got a coffee down the street with my friend at 'Prototype'. I love going to coffee shops. The two words I would describe this one is moody and experimental. 

I didn't take any pictures at prototype so I made this instead

Many of my collaborators—visually, in my aesthetic, in styling—are like my little group, super creative, and they… I don’t know, they inspire me too.
