The Cusp Of Time

And now for something completely different.  I wrote this song many years ago to express the romance of the moon, the ocean, and how we feel when we miss our beloved.   The music and imagery blend together to paint a picture of a beautiful lady on a Caribbean beach in the moonlight dreaming of her lover and waiting for his return or to just never wake from her dreams. A different version of this is going on the next Jazz X release, but I like this version so much I just wanted to share it.   I love the tone of the vocalist.   

Ocean Moon - Alt Version

According to Greek Philosophy "Teleia Philia" is the highest form of friendship.  Socrates discussed the importance of trusted friends in life.   He considered a life without friends as not worth living.  A true friendship helps us relieve our incompleteness and find universal harmony.   This song begins in a dramatic minor key evoking the sense of being alone in the world.  Then the joy of finding a companion evolves into the complicated harmonies of a friendship that is perfected in the end.    Omnisphere, Moog Voyager, Fender Stratocaster, Peavey Classic 30.   Perhaps I am a little longwinded on this one but I like how the themes evolved.  I will try to keep it shorter next time.  

Teleia Philia - Friendship Perfected

From the archives of the Studio Alchemist.  I recorded this with the great Drummer Richard Lewis back in 2008.  Everyone needs a little funk in their life.  Musically it is part of a nutritious breakfast.  Recorded on my Roland VS-2400 CD with just a few cheap microphones.  I was playing my Fender Strat through a Line 6 Vetta II and recorded the Warwick Fretless bass direct in.   Good fun.

Monsters On Acid

Early demo - Featuring the lovely and talented Cara Isadorable on vocals.  Listen if you dare!!  I used Spectrasonics Trilian and Omnisphere for much of the synth work.  Native Instruments Guitar Rig 5 and my trusty Custom Shop Stratocaster for the guitar work.  I am pretty happy with the results now that I finally have a good vocal track in the works. Cruel Mistress

Featuring the lovely and talented Cara Isadorable on vocals.  A very contemplative track about the fates and how our lives interweave during life's journey.  Cara did a fabulous job capturing the vibe and really brought this track to life for me.  

The Spindle Of Necessity

Featuring the lovely and talented Cara Isadorable on vocals.  Cara asked me to prepare a cover version of Shine by Operatica.  She has the first version of the track on her soundcloud page. You can really hear her voice shine on that track.  This version has more drums and is a bit heavier.  Trilian Bass, Omnisphere, and Native Instruments Battery drums.  Please enjoy Cara's fabulous voice!

Shine Version 2

How do I describe the allure of a strong, mysterious, and beautiful woman?  With a harmonically rich tapestry of romance and desire.  It also takes a Fender Stratocaster, a Gibson Les Paul Standard, and a Warwick fretless bass.  I would probably also suggest someone who sings a little better than me.  I gave it my best shot.  I programmed Native Instruments Studio Drummer and used a little Omnisphere for the synth pads.  

Wicked Eyes

I am a Guitar, Bass, and Synth player.  I enjoy writing and producing music.  Always in the studio when I should be doing something else!  I enjoy working with other musicians and pushing musical limits.  I like mixing different influences and seeing what the creative result is.  I love finding new sources of inspiration.  In the last few years I started getting heavily into the synth even though I was more a guitar player.  Now I find I go to the synth more than the guitar..... Oh the Shame!   Seriously I love music and will use any instrument within arms reach given the opportunity.
